Humans are no different then any other animal. All animals are concerned only for their immediate survival and group survival. Elephants are deforesting Africa, Algae changed the entire atmosphere releasing all of the Oxygen we breath today. Without predators Deer & Moose reproduce until the population causes mass starvation. Man is little different. Two things different about us is that we are far more efficient at the destruction we cause and we are able to understand the distruction we cause. We are a simple part and product of nautre. Perhaps it is inevitable that we are on a dead end path, or perhaps we are ment to evolve into true Gaian Stewards, managing the Biome for the benefit of Ours and all Species?

Greed. Pure and simple. It costs a fortune to retrofit factories to meet air pollution regulations agreed upon at the Koyoto agreement. Since Bush didn't sign the argreement, US factories aren't required to put filters on their smokestacks, thus destroying the environment.

The humans who destroy the environment are so selfish that they see their personal gain as more important than anything else. They see profit for themselves as more important than caring for the environment.
Take care,
