Many of the over the counter lotions have ingredients that make the problem worse no matter what the label says. If I don't take action I get dry skin as well. I have a humidifier built into my furnace that I adjust to the proper setting. A whole home humidifier is a good idea and not to expensive to have installed if you call a local heating and cooling company.
Back to the natural stuff. Here is a website with natural moisturizers- www.burtsbees.com
I also use baby oil and vaseline on my skin.

could it be the choice in clothing? perhaps you have an allergy to the fibers? synthetic? apart from winter, what else changes in your life? look beyond the obvious for clues.

also it could be the dryness of the winter air in your area.

it could also be a change in diet, as some foods are unavailable. you may have a vitamin/mineral deficiency that is catered for in summer, but not in winter. we eat more fruit in summer after all, and they are full of antioxidants and vitamins...

Try Aloe Vera lotions/gels to soothe.
try adding olive oil to your dishes.

Try contacting a naturopath for ideas.

It depends upon your natural chemical predisposition. I find that Jergens lotion (regular) works best, even on my dermatitis. I would suggest calling a dermatologist office and ask to speak with the nurse. Alot of times, doctor's offices have products that they recommend without having to come make an appointment.

Use Keri Oil in your bath water and Keri lotion or Gold Bond medicated lotion for itching. I have the same problem and these products work well for me.

Cetaphil moisturizing lotion is very good. Your doctor can prescribe it compounded together with hydrocortisone (which relieves the itching). The pharmacy I work for commonly does it with either 1% hydrocortisone, or 2.5%

I'm an old dude, Avon skin so soft ..works for me. also drink lots of water. We tend to drink less in water in the winter and are always slightly dehydrated which makes for dry skin
