Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I had to give my dog away about a week ago. My question is sill she remember me if she sees me? If so, will she ever forget me? I don't plan on going to visit her, but my teenage son wants to just see her one more time. (He did not get to say good-bye)

Long memories, and of course the dog will remember your son...it may not be a good idea to see the dog so soon, as the dog needs to adjust to the new home...the dog will NOT understand your son seeing him/her, as the dog will expect to be taken home at that time...not a good idea right now...later is ok. I visit a dear dog I gave to a very good home occasionally, the dog knows me very well, loves me, but is very happy in her new home. I waited about 6 months before I visited so she would know her new home was hers, not temporary. Good luck

i am a dog groomer and i can tell you dogs memory lasts a long time, probably very similar to ours.so she will probably still remember you and get excited when she sees you. but also confused when you leave again. if she went to a better home then it will probably be easier, but i dont think you should mess with her mind anymore and just let it go, you should have dont this in a way where everyone could say bye and move on.

I do believe that your dog will remember you, especially if it was only one week ago. Think about it, would you forget someone who cared for you and loved you and played with you after a week or even at all? I don't think I would. Dogs can also tell who you are by your smell. They smell you and can say, "I know this person. This is ___!" Good luck to everything with your dog!

That is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad! I'm really sorry, I know how you feel, but yes a dog's memory may not remember those little tiny things but she'll always remember the people who loved her. I wonder the same qestion if I ever saw Sarge again if he would remember me....

Yes....... fortunately they do always remember u.They have very good memory three times as better than humans.I would go back to see her and I would see her at least every month it brings back old memories that your son will never forget and is to his liking.Old memories will always stay with u and your dog.
I had a 6 month old puppy and there was loose cows in my back yard and they scared her and stepped on her chain and made her collar come off.She knew she was loose so she took off running all over and finnaly her time was up.She went on the road in front of a truck/car not sure and it hit her put a gash in her side and her jaw was broke.it was to late we could not save her.So we buried her in the back yard and I carved into a brick ...... IN LOVING MEMORY JADA B...... That was her name.I felt heart broken after that I felt like i was about to die in tears. My mom had kept her on a chain. She went to work leaving poor Jada out with the cows.It was there fault she was not here with me now.I felt like I was going to commit suicide thats how bad I felt now 1 year later we have 2 puppys and i'm doin good.Jada always loved me.I hope even in heaven she would still remember me.Dogs have long memory. Good Luck!!!

Dogs have long memories. Good or Bad, they are like people they remember how they were treated.

Forever with many things, 30 seconds with others.
Dogs will bond to a new owner with no problem, but if she saw you 100 years from now she would still remember you.
