First know:
My invention is a breathalyzer interlock - fail breathalyzer = no start car.
My invention cannot be tricked by an air compressor or a so called sober friend. No need for random tests.
My invention costs $100 to $300 retail depending on the features. Competition is around $1000.
It can be programmed to only test subjects at certain times.(ie 8pm - 2 am.. party times)
?'s:
Have you been affected somehow by a drunk driver?
Under what conditions would you buy my interlock device for yourself or your loved one?
A: court mandate
B: if I have a son/daughter/relative/spouse I am concerned about
C: when king kong decides to shave.
Would you buy a breathalyzer interlock system for yourself or a loved one if it costs $300 or less? Do you feel $300 is reasonable?
Do you feel it intrudes on your vehicle if the device is placed between the driver seat and the center console(shift lever, parking brake location). What if stored in glove compartment?

I really despise people who drive drunk, I never have and never will. I love your idea, I've thought of something like that before too! But I think it needs to be programmed 24/7, some people get drunk during the day (alcoholics). For the first question, I have not been affected somehow by a drunk driver, but all the stories I hear are so disheartening. 2nd question my answer is B. Third question I would do it if it was like $100, definetly. $300 is too much. 4th question, I think it should be stored somewhere that is somewhat discreet so if you drive someone they don't have to feel embarrassed about it. Glove compartment would be good.

My ex husband drove drunk with my son so yes to the first and A and B to the second. I don't know about the price but my ex has one now but let me ask you this. What stops the person from just leaving his vehicle running while he's in the pub? Most people have a second set of keys so they can leave it running and locked. Answer me that!!! latinsmama@yahoo.ca

Never for myself, most people would not. Good idea for a loved one though. If it's that small, it would not be intrusive at all. My brother-in-law got into a car with a drunk and it took his life at 21. It seems that the start time is good, but I would go until more like 4:00 a.m. I say go for it,and good luck with it!

1. No
2. A, B
3. If I was mandated, yes. If I was not, I might...I think it is a little pricey
4. Glove compartment would be better, the center console idea might get in the way. Just depends how big it is.

it's been invented. judges can order one placed in your car.
yes ive been affected, my babysitter was killed when i was little by a drunk. his face was used on MADD panthlets in the 80s
my hubby and i dont drink so therefore i'm not concerned with a breathalizer in my car
it shouldnt matter what the cost is but you should get a deduction in your insurance by having one (like with your anti theft device)
why not make it so it flips out right from the steering wheel?

I think it's ideal for parents to get for their kid's when they start driving around on their own. Or as mandatory use by law on drunk driving offenders.
