Young Earth Creationism: YECs believe the earth was created in 7 literal (24-hour) days. They also believe that the time of creation can be measured by tracing the lineage of the characters in the bible (beginning with the long-living characters in Genesis). Bishop Ussher placed this on Oct. 24th, 4004 BC and that year has become pretty much the standard for YECs, though there is variation, anywhere between 6000 years ago and 10,000 years ago.

Old Earth Creationism: OECs believe that god created the earth, according to the bible. However, they do not believe that it occurred in 7 literal 24-hour days. Instead, they state that a "day" for god could be millions of years for us, hence they accept the 4.6 billion years age of the earth. In general, they agree with the age of the earth, but believe that god created each species separately over time. For instance, he created the birds around 65 million years ago, but humans only 1 million years ago, on the last day of "creation." In general, they believe the evolutionary record matches the order of creation in the bible. This is the strain that Intelligent Design comes from.

Theistic Evolution: TEs believe in an old earth (4.6 billion years) and that the theory of evolution is absolutely correct. However, they believe that god got involved on occasion, prodding things to make certain that human beings would some day arise. The biblical account, however, is entirely metaphorical and doesn't match the observable evidence.

Please note that I do not claim any of these are correct or incorrect.

Young earth creationist believe the earth and everything was created by God in six literal days about 6000 years ago-including dinosaurs.
Old earth creationism, theistic evolution and progressive creationism are nearly the same. They are a compromise between creationism and evolution. They say that God created the earth and the universe and and got everything started then allowed evolution to take over.

Young-earth creationism: The biblical estimate of the world being created only tens of thousands of years ago is true. Any "scientific" evidence to the contrary is deceptive.

Old-earth creationism: God created the world millions of years ago, but in 7 days like the bible says.

Theistic evolution: God created the world... or better, God is creating the world.. through the processes we call evolution. For example, you could consider the scientific idea of the "big bang" as the moment of creation... which continues even today.

Young-earth Creationism: Complete and utter hog-wash.

Old-earth Creationism: Hog-wash trying (poorly) to reconcile itself with overwhealming evidence to the contrary.

Theistic Evolution: The last recourse of a failed philosophy, and the 'gateway drug' to atheism.
