We have been dating for 18 months and plan on getting married. The don't even say hi to me anymore! i have been nothing but polite...As my mom always says "Kill them with kindness." In the beginning they were just wary of me, but now they are so rude! I am not invited over for holidays and they yell at him when he comes to visit me. (We go to different colleges) Please help!

'kill them with kindness' is a very good advice. at the end of the day and they still don't like you, then the best thing you could do is try not to care. how they feel for you is beyond your control, you gotta accept that fact.

Whoa, everyone is in a rush to attach the parents, but we're only hearing one side of the story. WHY do they dislike you? There has to be a reason. Maybe they are idiots, or maybe they don't want their son in a serious relationship (much less married) before he finishes college. Have you asked them why? Some parents are irrational, but until i hear their side of the story I can't say exactly what you should do.

I would just ask them straight up. Why are you all being so rude to me? What did I do to you? All I do is love your son. So what's the deal?

Your mom is right about the phrase. But it doesn't fit in this situation. If someone is being rude to you. You don't go and kiss their a**. You try and rectify it. If that doesn't work, then just tell his parents they might as well get over their hissy fits because you and their son are gonna be together regardless, so get over it!

It would be nice to pretend like it doesn't matter...but these are your boyfriends parents, like it or not, our bond with our parents is a strong one.
How does he feel about his parents behavior? Have you asked him if they've expressed to him what they have against your relationship? I would start with these 2 things. See if you both are on the same page; meaning he is behind you & your relationship and not his parents. If so, I would have a joint discussion with his parents to 'clear the air'. Let them know you both love each other and do not want your relationship to come between them and their son and that you look forward to building a relationship with them.
Marriage is forever.... being at odds with either set of parents will only place one more hurdle in your lives.
Good Luck!

Go on Parental Control and show 'em he loves you for you!

lol, sorry, I couldn't resist. I <3 that show.

Anyway, have you talked to your boyfriend about it? Try having him explain to his parents how he feels about you and how you're feeling about the way they treat you. If no changes are made, try talking to the parents themselves. They could just be the clingy parent type who are sad to see their boy leaving for a woman to start his own family...

Don't worry about it you shouldn't let his parents get in the way, if they don't like you so be it. It should have no effect on your relationship
