If mexicans weren't illegal than we'd have registers of where they're at and a way to tax them.
I've been living in Mexico for a few years and I've gained a unique insight on the reality of this place and the immigration issue.
Mexico is an example of the underbelly of democracy. It is at a point where all levels of government have become infected with corruption.
The drug-runners also take their cut. Since the US implemented the foreign policy Plan Columbia it has become more and more difficult to produce and export cocaine in that country. This displacement in the black market has moved cocaine production from Columbia to neighboring countries such as Peru and Ecuador. The plan has also choked smuggling routes through the Gulf of Mexico so a terrestrial path had to be found to the #1 consumer of drugs in the world.
Gangs have sprung up now and a seemingly endless supply of money has funded violent street warfare for turf and smuggling routes. Organized crime has benefited mostly from this. These gangs are better armed than before, sporting assault rifles and explosives. Anyone can be bought if the price is right. Those who can't be bought die, and in horrible ways. They are known for their notorious beheadings and hits against anyone who stands as a threat or is simply in their way. Lawmakers, civilians, politicians and even police: these people fear no one and in turn everyone fears them.
The government hasn't helped much either in the situation.
It has been catering to the wealthy foreign companies and influences that exploit Mexico since it's industrialization, allowing them to take out large amounts of valuable resources and giving the nation back a single digit cut of the final sales price.
Basically, Mexico's being f*ck'd up, flipp'd over and f*ck'd up again.
As is with all countries, the lower class is always the hardest hit. The problem is the widening gap between the rich and poor and the large percentage of the population that classifies as lower class. The upper class (and especially the elite) gets the largest slice of the economic pie and the rest gets the crust.
What does this create?
A society where the rich are getting richer and the poor are stuck and sinking. When you’re making less than $300 dollars a month than maybe scrubbing a toilet or mopping a floor in a foreign country doesn’t sound so bad. Mexicans aren’t sneaking over to become doctors, lawyers and scientists. They’re making minimum wage doing the same damn jobs that no one else wants to do. I know you’ve heard that argument before but the words are true to a degree that someone who hasn’t lived real I-wonder-if-we’ll-eat-tonight poverty.

I am sad to say that illegal immigration will be ended in the year 2010 when the borders between Mexico and Canada will go down. The paperwork has been signed and our congressmen know about it but nobody is saying anything about it.
It is then that all Mexicans from Mexico will be considered citizens of the USA,and the folks from Canada too. But alas,we Americans will become citizens of Mexico and Canada as well.

I want to end illegal immigration, but I do NOT want to pave a way to legalizing the ones that are here now. I want to pave a way for them back to where they came from after we take all of their belongings they acquired while here to pay for some of their back taxes that they owe us for staying here illegally. The immigration process is fine just the way it is, fill out the paper work, pay the fee, then wait your turn!
NO Amnesty, NO leniency, and NO anchor babies!

Poor people will never pay enough taxes to cover even education of their children much less other services. For every poor person who comes or stays in WE have to pay more and our children get worse education.
That is even if they pay all taxes due. They just don't make enough money. If they could pay to educate their own children through their taxes, their governments where they came from would give that education rather than lose those people. They are an economic drain, and ruin schools and hospitals by draining their funds.

NO AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS. You know since the democrats are in charge we can kiss our a$$ goodbye. The President Caldron of Mexico talked with Bush to try to build a road through Mexico to start bilateral trade ties instead of building the wall. So you know who will end up paying for it. Us.

godoompah - that is a myth, the prices saved in labor are going directly into the pockets of the producer, this has been proven.
It is also speculated that there will be a sudden increase in price, but this will go down by producers competing with each other, to get you to buy their product.
