Having a very stressul time as I am leaving the country permanently: getting rid of furniture, finding a tenant, stressed about shipping goods, long flights etc etc.
I use ambien for insomnia ten minute before bedtime and it puts me to sleep quickly.
Can I break one in half and use it for current daily stress/acute anxiety until I am settled in my new country. No time to see a doc cause I leave Sunday morning.
Should be settled by next Tuesday.

No - it will only make you sleepy. You can't afford to fall asleep while driving, etc.! Take a deep breath, blow it out slowly - several times a day when you are feeling tense. On the long flight, drink lots of water & then take your ambien & the time will just"fly by"! Get a friend to help you if everything hasn't been done by flight day. You'll be fine! Good luck!

I am not a doctor but I have never heard of Ambien being used to lessen anxiety during the day. You may go into a black out, or nod out on a limited dose and that could be very dangerous. You should be able to find a doctor before Sunday or call your regular doctor and ask for a prescription for a mild anti-anxiety agent like Klonipin. On the long term, you might want to be aware of what triggers you to get chemical help to alter how you feel. You might be utilizing medication in an unhealthy way.

I wouldn't try it. Ambien works great to help someone sleep. Even half of one could cause you to be delusional and potentially put you in to a walking zombie state if you can even stay awake. Maybe you should get a good book to read during your down time or on the long flight like how to stop worrying and start living by Dale Carnegie... Good luck!

I'm not a doctor, but work in pharmacy you need to follow up with and doctor. Ambien doesn't help only for insomnia.
