I don't use caller ID. I use an answering machine & screen all my calls that way.

Caller ID is an extra service that is an added charge to the phone bill. Why pay for it when an answering machine does the job better.

I don't answer the phone for anyone, most of all telemarketers. The phone service is paid for by me & I don't allow others to use my time at their will whenever they choose to interrupt me.

If I'm expecting a call or want to speak to whoever it is calling, I pick up the phone after I hear the voice, if not, the machine gets it period. Simple.'

I don't have any unpleasant calls or calls that I want to avoid. Sometimes, I just don't feel like being on the phone.

I do, however, have people I really want to talk to. Family, certain friends, a coworker during a project, etc. So when I see their names/numbers, I pick up.

I feel its a waste of time to talk to telemarketers, charities always want money..I have my phone programed so if the person is in my data-base....it plays a song....and I know who it is before I even look at the caller-ID...I just love this feature...I only programed family and friends with them song ring-tones...

Yes I love it for that. It has saved me so many times. Family members I would just rather not speak to is the most common. The most resent is a 'friend' of my sons. They really didn't want the boy to come over or even to talk to him, he had annoyed them last time he was here. But he is lonely and we hate to tell him not to come over so I just see his number and don't answer. Then they call him back really late and say, "Oh, it is too late for us to have company." So we don't have to be mean and hurt his feelings, but they don't have to deal with him either.
