Fear V. Love

It's not about being afraid of god it's about love.

Stop spreading your fear about.

If you are afraid of what's going to happen to you after you die and do things to affect that, then you are ultimately being selfish by being concerned by your (imaginary) afterlife above everything else around you.

Forget god, forget Jesus, forget allah, forget elephant-boy, and stop for a moment and take a look around you.

People are starving, people are oppressed, people are poor.

Let's stop talking about the "after-life" and help our brothers and sisters, love them as a god would...

That is the true meaning of religion, and I'm an atheist.

I agree with you 100% . I too am an athiest, but I have great respect for the teachings of the religions, whether Islam, Jdaism, Christianity, Hindu etc. The basic belief is summed up by the Christian commandment of "do unto others..."

The problem comes when we get an "our god's better than your god" type of confrontation, because that is just using religion as a tool to promote racism, and that is absolutely against everything that most religions stand for!

I'll get off my soap box now.

Yeah i'm a Christian so clearly i might say you're able to study it ;) i might decide for the ESV or NIV translation. King James is SO puzzling to appreciate. you ought to study the gospels interior the hot testomony, that is Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. those 4 are diverse money owed of the existence of Jesus so that is beneficial to envision those out. i admire the books of Ruth and Esther through fact they're such amazing thoughts and Genesis has some good oldies like the tale of Jacob or Joseph. while you're searching for a narrative there are particular books of the Bible that have not got any of those so which you have gotten to fish around somewhat. Numbers, to illustrate, would not incredibly have any thoughts. that is greater of a record of, nicely, numbers. And Leviticus is a few of those regulations that look incredibly strange to us now that the Levite priests had to stay with. merely hit upon the Bible somewhat. that is great things!

Super! You've got such a great view-point! That is more or less the way we view things as Buddhists. Help everyone around you, chant every day and basically support good causes. Blimey our world is fantastic when you take the blinkers off!

While I'm not certain many folks would agree that the charity you describe is the meaning of religion, it is absolutely the meaning of secular humanism. Finding rational solution to human problems is the basis of humanistic ethics.

I don't know, I was brought up in a christian household, I married a guy who was brought up a strict catholic.

We don't go to church & neither of us are particulary religious but I like to think we live our lives responsibly & treat others as we would like them to treat us, give money to local charities etc.
We have many friends from all over the world & don't judge anyone on their beliefs or lack of ...
We care about our close family even though we live miles away from them, through visiting, phone calls, Skype etc

Are we bad people ? In my opinion not but I'm sure plenty of folk out there think we're sinners ................ explain that please

i believe that in islam, muslims must never let another human suffer in this world and try to help them as long we are able to help..this is because helping another human is blessed thing to do,and that is one of what we will face in the afterlife. on what we have done in this world. there is a reason on why something happens, either we like it or not..islam is beautiful if you really understands it.. :)
