If the Rivers described in Genesis are identified by the same name as they are today(Tigris and Euphrates, Genesis 2:14) then it was located in what is now the country of Iraq (historically referred to as Mesopotamia)

The garden of Eden does not exist today it was wiped out by the flood of Noah's day.
There are many Archaeologists and other scientists spend almost all their lives investigating and seaching for clues as to its location.
Foreinstance: Archaeologist David Rohl in all his facts and evidence he found and in his travels in the Midle East said The garden is in Iran beneath a valcano in a lush valley. His book "The Genesis of Civilisation" explains the details of his find...The Garden of Eden.
Others suggested lies somewhere in the Tigris and Eupheates Valley under the waters of the Persian Gulf.
These Scientist had access to the ancient Sumerian cunriform clay tablets, held in the museum of the orient in Istanbul. 5000yrs. old.
British scholar Reginald Walker help decipher some of the cunniforn writings on it.
Let me say this...When the flood in Noah's day came, it changed the earthly scene. The force of the water that was released from heavens pounded the earth day after day. Furthermore, the floodwaters were filling in ravines and sculpting the earth like an artist would with clay.
After it was over, some of the earth's surface changed.
New rivers and lakes were formed some of the rivers were done away with that were present before the flood.
Therefore we must take that in perspective.
But with all honesty we don't know where the Garden Of Eden originally was.
For your good please go to Search of Yahoo...tap in The garden of Eden...
Peace...

Genesis 2:10-15 Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four rivers. 11 The name of the first is Pishon; it flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 And the gold of that land is good; the bdellium and the onyx stone are there. 13 And the name of the second river is Gihon; it flows around the whole land of Cush. 14 And the name of the third river is Tigris; it flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. 15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.
So, I guess that would mean it had to be in modern Iraq!

Where the Tigris, the Euphrates, the Gihon, and the Pison meet.
Though, the Tigris and the Euphrates don't meet with two other rivers. And no one is entirely certain what the Pison is. Oh, and according to the bible, the Gihon is in Ethiopia, which is pretty far from Iraq (though, there are many instances of biblical writers getting Ethiopia and Egypt confused).
So, if we go there, will we still find the cherubim guarding it with flaming swords? Seems like something like that would tend to stick out.

Some believe that it is located in the Middle East, because the Bible mentions the tigris and euphrates rivers. This area is also very fertile, called the "Fertile Crescent," which shows evidence that such a garden could have been there.

It is described as being where four rivers meet: the Tigris, Euphrates and two others, I think one was Pishon. The first two rivers still exist in Iraq, but the other two are thought to now be under the water of the Persian Gulf just south of Iraq.

Before the flood, the location seemed to be in Iraq.
After the flood, things may have shifted around a bit.
My guess is that the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem would be the current location.

Iraq the bible tells us that it is there as it explains that some rivers met there and that is where the named rivers meet.
the garden of Eden is still there. we don't see it and we may not go into it because God said so and its guarded by a cherubim with a flaming sword.
