So, My 12th birthday is in a couple of days..and for my birthday I wanted to get my hair done! My hair is very Curly, Thick, and Frizzy. So to control it. I use gel every single day. But since my hair is sooo thick and frizzy i use a A LOT of gel. And not to sound over reactive or anything. But My hair is ruining my social life! I've just moved to a new school and when some of my closest friends want to say "Hi" And give me a Hug.. I can't cause than gel will get all over them. Some of my friends do touch my hair though. And when they do they say "Eww.. What's in your hair?" Or if they don't say anything they just wipe there hands on there jeans and make an ugly face behind my back.. Some boys touch my hair too.. (I think just to flirt) But when they do they scream out "Eww.. Your hair is wet! What do you put in it?" And Its really embarassing! So. I want to get my hair relaxed.. Any tips or suggestions? So My Main Question Is.. SHOULD I OR SHOULD I NOT GET MY HAIR RELAXED?

If your hair bothers you then I say have it relaxed, but do it because that is what you want and not because of other people.

OMG my hair was exactly the same way until I got it relaxed! I say go for it, but tell them it's your first time and they will make sure not to keep the relaxer in too long. Also, after I got my hair relaxed, I left it like that for a while and then when I washed it to get it back to curly, it was so much better than it had been before. It was sooo much less frizzy! Hope I helped!

DONT GET IT RELAXED i have very curly hair and i had it relaxed but it wasnt sucsessful and made my hair worse,

i used to hate my hair so much it was so frizzy and i couldnt do any thing to it, i have come to love my hair now what i do to my hair now is wash it in sunsilk the green one for curls and frizz use both conditioner and shanpoo, then do not use a brush to brush your hair use a comb then scrunch it up with a towel and let it dry naturally, do not use gel or any thing else on your hair it will ruin it.

with curly hair the more you brush your hair the more frizzy it will become and the more you use a hairdryer or straightners the more damaged it will become,

it will take time to repair the damage but if you do as i have done it will look great!

just trust me good luck sweetie hope you will learn to enjoy your hair like what everyone else dose and remember mose people with straight hair want curly hair and they will be really jelouse of you

Hi, Promise you will not get your hair relaxed,,,, It will ruin your hair, a perm will grow out but having your hair relaxed will not so you will have to get it cut off.
Talk with a good hairdresser who will probably do heavy layers to de-bulk your hair. (so it sits in a better way on your head)
I also have very thick curly hair and bought some straighteners and ruined my hair. Before that I relaxed my hair and it went wrong so had to have it cut short.
Talk to the hair dresser but to relax your hair not a good choice
now I use the babylis hairdryer for curly hair and its so good to manage my unruly curls - try it
I hope this makes sense and helps

My story is almost the same as yours...mine was very thick and very curly,, my hairstylist said that I should get it relaxed..i did and I loved it..my haire came out pretty straight. you have to go back about every month and get the roots retouched so that the top of your hair wont start to get curly again. I think you shoud totally do it..you may have to use a straightener to get it straighter because your hair wont be pin straight. I have had mine for almost two months and i am turning 14..so i think you should get it done especially if your hair was as kinkey as mine was..

Putting gel on your hair is not good for it nor for your skin. Think carefully bout getting your hair relaxed, you've gotta keep on top of your roots 'cause the ends will brake if you don't. it'll cost ~£60 for virgin hair and £30 for touch ups . Have you though about getting your hair texturised (~£30), it'll loosen the curls in your hair (it'll look like Corinne Bailey Rae). It'll stress your hair out less and you can blow dry it straight. Alternatively you can get your hair braided. It'll cost £60 with extension but if you take care of them properly they'll last for 2 months.

I had the same problem. I got mine relaxed about three times in the past 4 years as my hair is very wavy and bushy. Some people say it damages your hair but it doesn't as mine was fine. I would recommend getting it done as it calmed my hair down and was much easier to style.

don't put gel in you hair because it can make it more curly...just shampoo your hair everyday so that if someone touches it,,it's smooth...curly hair looks good...my friend who tried to relax her curly hair doesn't look good,..if it's your natural hair, then you should be comfortable with it,you should be contented of what you have...but it's still up to you if you want your hair to be straight,,,

I have had that done before for I have curly hair myself, I would suggest no. My hair looked like an afro of straight hair. It was horrible!!!

you should get it relaxed. putting gel in your hair every single day is gross and bad for your hair. you sound like you're putting in waaaayyyy too much gel, if you get it on your hands when you touch your hair. but whatever you like.
