You are doing exactly the right thing. Spray bottles just don't work here. Also when you tell him "No bite" and tap him, pick him up gently and hiss in his face. That's what mother cats do to correct their kittens behavior.
Always use a cat dancer or feather toy when you play with him. Never give him the impression that human hands are toys. How fast he learns will depend on his age. At two months it will take a while, at three months not as long. Just be totally consistent (and make sure others in the household use the three simple step). The (1) hiss, the (2) tap and the (3) "No bite!").

Kittens do no longer administration their claws properly earlier each and every thing, it particularly is something they learn. in addition they play somewhat problematic so each and every physique can assume some scratches right here and there. Cats are organic born predators, so their play mimics this. they are going to outgrow it and quiet down as they mature. Spaying/neutering will help. Get a scratching placed up or possibly a carpet lined abode on a pole that she will climb on. With some cats, catnip does not help till it particularly is freshly grown.

not sure what nipping is.do u mean biting?
i think u should spray him with a water bottle when he does it,u can use a sprayer that shoots far, that way he wont associate u with the water.
im getting a tabby soon too. :)
& i know how u feel,u dont want to get your cat wet & make them unhappy.

nipping is very normal. kittens don't play with their hands or feet, like other felines they use their mouths. it will stop. i raised three cats from infancy, and once they are older they mellow out. remember even humans go through an "oral stage" and try to put everything in their mouths b/c they are curious...

Hiss at him. You may feel like an idiot doing it, but trust me, it really works wonders. Cats have their own language and hissing shows your unhappiness with his behavior. He may run when you hiss, but that's okay. Just give him a minute or two and then go try to pet him again.

he is a kitten after all. givehim time. if he is getting the idea then give him more time. u don't say how old he is and how ur other cat reacts. more than likely the older cat will put him in his place as ur house is HIS territory.
