Of course, we need money to survive in this world. Unless of course we learn to be self-sufficient. Grow our own food, etc.
Today, people are earthly minded, or I should say carnal minded, and selfish, that is the fruit of our parents buying whatever we wanted and and a lack of discipline. At Christmas, people spend hundreds of dollars on gifts and some can't afford to pay their bills.A few days of enjoyment , but to know spiritual avail. They are caught up in the things of this world. Work, Work, Work and spend, spend, spend for what? to buy gifts, easter rabbits, halloween candy, and to spoil the children. What happened to the days of teaching children to work , and to love their families and to seek God.
With all the money, all the food, and Americans have more cancer, than ever. Simple, natural , basic foods, would be just as sufficient and less deadly. The days of growing your own food. Living out of the garden. May be more time consuming, but more healthy. Money can buy a lot of things , but not love, spiritual happiness, and good health. It may help, but it is not sufficient.

Western culture is capitalistic and Christian, but true Christianity is not. Some even say it is more like communism, "every person recieves acording to his needs, gives according to his abilities" though Im not really agreeing with the communism part entirely
To "tequila mike" the Catholic church helps more unwanted people worldwide than any organization in history!, providing education to anyone, healthcare to those no one else will, and opportunities that respect human dignity. Dont be so hateful to such a benevolent force.

Nope capitalism is an economic structure (and a great one at that) religion is a belief in a higher power while capitalism is under our control religion is beyond our control.
For example i am a capitalist and i use some of my funds to donate to charities (except for the United Way) and to my church. I use capitalism to make my money which in turn helps me do good works.

That may very well be true and at times it seems that most of what you hear coming out of most pulpits is a plea for mo-money.
I suppose that running a good looking church is probably a hard
task in today's economy and getting caught up in appearances
is a human failing. I wonder if most Americans have become
so commercial that they would consider it un-cool to be seen it a church that spends so much money on it's parishioners needs,
that it suffered in outward maintenance and appearance.

First intelligent queston I've seen on here today. Yes it is and that is why we are at odds with the Muslim community. We don't have their values - we only value money - and comfort. We also are aware that religion is just brainwashing by another name. The only problem, is that because we are so busy consuming everything, we don't have time to learn - which is making us dim and physically unfit aswell - but to call captalism a religion is probably pretty close to the mark - because the keep-up-with-the-jones culture is definitely gathering pace
From ipods to houses and everything in between !!!

In America yes. 2000 years ago Jesus said that people could be slaves of money. Then Paul said that in the last days people would be lovers of money instead of God. So, really America's god is their Dollar.

It does have many features of a religion. Blind adherence, the belief that no better economic system can possibly ever be discovered, etc. I'd have to say de facto yes.

Capitalism certainly figures into it as religions are businesses. However, I think first and foremost, it's fraud.
