It depends on how much black paint you put on it.

That depends on a lot of things. If the light bulb is painted lightly black and the room is quite dark then there will be some light from the bulb.
In the Navy bulbs painted red are used to help maintain "night vision". The red light bulbs give off just enough light for people on watch to move around safely but not enough light to interfear with people's night vision. Even the flashlights have red lens to keep the amount of light to a very minimal level on Navy ships. Generally speaking the darker the night the more noticeable the light from the "red bulbs/lens" becomes.
So your question probably has more utility than most folks would suspect.

That depends, do you close the curtains and then paint the bulb when you cant see? If thats the case youll turn on the light and find black paint all over your ceiling.. But really, if the room is PITCH black, and you have a completely blacked out light bulb, then its not even worth stumbling in the dark to find the switch...

if you have the light turned off and have thick curtains, the room should go darker as soon as you close the curtains. and the completely blacked out lightbulb shal make no difference tothe light in the room.

If you paint it black and switch it on in the daytime, it will suck the sunlight into the bulb, and convert the light energy into electricity. You can then charge the electric company for the electricity you are putting back into the National Grid.

No, i'm guessing that the room would most likely turn gray but the lightbulb, bright yellow inside.

Of course if you switched all the power off there would be an added benefit for all of us. Your PC wouldn't be on either!

Who's to say that the paint wouldn't get so hot and start a fire? Hmmm... wouldn't be so dark inside then, would it?
