They apparently CAN knock on EVERYONE's door all day long & annoy the crap outta ya!!!! LOL....

The reason why they can't do anything is because they are being dictated by their founder's script (no it is NOT the 'regular' Bible)--the JEHOVAH'S WITNESS' BIBLE...

I am associated with Jehovah's Witnesses, and it would take a great deal of your time to go into everything here that we believe and why. We do not celebrate holidays such as Easter and Christmas, as we believe that they have pagan roots. We believe in Jesus and his sacrifice for our sins, but we understand that Jesus was not born in December... the Bible scholars believe he was born sometime in early October, so we do not partake of a pagan celebration of his birth when he was not born then! As for our own birthdays, we try to follow the first century Christians, and they did not celebrate birthdays. Neither were Jesus true followers to emmerse themselves in politics or worldly enterainments.. we are to keep seperate from the world. Ephesians 4:17,18. Therefore we don't vote, pledge allegiance to a flag or country, or put any image or organization above our worship of Jehovah. We believe that blood is sacred to God and we do not partake of it whether it is eating blood or in this day and time, taking it in intraveniously. Acts 15:29. We go door to door in submission to God's command in Matthew, chapter 28, verses 19 and 20. Our young people are not encouraged to casually date, but are taught to look for a lifemate amongst others who believe as we do. Life and marriage is difficult enough without having differences of religion to worry about!
so, here is a few of the things we do and don't do. If you would like further information, please contact your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and they will be happy to answer any other questions you may have! Good luck..

I am not one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but in their defense I find them to be a very happy people who really Know the bible. I grew up in a religious house hold, we read the bible daily, so when speaking to the Witnesses I discovered that they base their beliefs entirely on the bible, whether it is convenient or not. To really find out why they will prove to you from the bible, such as Christmas(pagan origin)etc. I have a great deal of respect for the work they do of preaching, I find it commendable and all self professed Christians should be doing it. !!!

I am not a Witness, so I am unable to answer your questions, however I have spoke to them and worked w/them on occasion and I can see you are getting a lot of misinformation regarding them. No they are not miserable by any means, and when we spoke they used my bible(both NJ,KJ), and as madkat said they Know it!!!! unlike other religions that fight each other in war they don't. I find them to be a lovely and peaceful people that follow the bible.
