today, my niece lost a ring that was given to her by her mom. so we went to look for it in her pre-k room. I walked in and saw atleast 7 little caucasian children sitting at the tables. i didn't know what they were doing in the class at 5:00 o'clock. But, anyhow, as i was leaving the room, this one kid said" that was a crazy (the "N" word) and the kids were laughing. What's your thoughts on this?

omg! a little kid said that! i don't even use that word. this serious. just because of someone's race you call them a terrible name. that's wrong. i can't even believe it. they need to learn the song
the world is a mixing cup
just look what happens when you stir it up
the world is a rainbow with many kinds of people

if people believed that anymore America would be a really really terrible place.

you should have gone back and slapped them

As terrible of a word as it is, it really is becoming (already is) part of our daily language. Through Televeision and Music and bad parenting and just all around social influence.

Long time argument:

I see a police officer run a red light with no lights or sirens on. Or I see an officer blatently look the other way towards a crime being committed, how am I supposed to respect the laws they uphold...

same argument.. If I hear a black person call another black person the N word, a word that is supposed to be the worst of all words, how am I supposed to respect it's meaning.

I am jewish, I dont go arround calling my jewish friends the "K" word, Nor would I want anyone else using that word.

You or your niece's parents should approach the teacher about what you observed. Your niece and other children should definitely not have to encounter this kind of behavior. The teacher should then talk with the parents about this (even though that is probably where they learned it). Racism needs to be "nipped in the bud" right away or it grows out of control.

I would raise hell and demand a meeting with the teacher and the parents of these kids. That is unacceptable behavior. Sadly, the parents might be the same way. In all honestly, I would pick up and move somewhere where there is alot more tolerance.

Some kids repeat what their parents, parents friends, or relatives say ., or what they hear on TV. Do you know if the teacher heard it? I would go back and tell the preschool teacher about it and suggest to her that the kids parents know about it because that is something this kid does not need to be saying and needs to learn now. Thats terrible that he would learn something like that at such a young age. My kids have said things to embarrass me before that they get from television or something, (Never anything like that though...) But in case the parents arent the ones saying it, they do need to know. I would want to know if my child said that.

It is amazing what some parents teach their kids, I know how it feels to be in utter shock from hearing somethings that come out of a child's mouth. When I was shopping with my daughter when she was only 1 1/2 years old there was a little middle eastern boy running around the store my daughter went up to him and tried to play but he ran to his dad, I explained that she saw him playing and wanted to join in, when the father got done talking to his son the little boy replied " But she's white daddy" I think the father saw my eyes filled with shock because he took his son and left the store. I try to teach my kids that no matter what color someones skin is you treat them with respect and dignity. I only wish others did the same.

Even though Im white, I never use that word even in front of my closest friends and family. I would probably have been holding back from delivering those kids a hard slap to the face and told them that if they ever told anyone about what happened you would kill their parents while they were sleeping. Not really but it would have been nice to play parent to the kids who obviously dont. What ever happened to parents teaching their kids whats right and wrong?

This type of behavior is not natural to children, it is taught in the homes. I wouldn't blame the children, however I would speak to the pre k teachers about it, simply becasue it is not appropriate behavior. If the teachers see no problem with it I would pull my child out of there poste haste, and my daughter is white.

Unfortunately nowadays their are so many place for children to pick up hurtful, and racist terminology. Lack of parenting or repeating what a parent may say is only one of them. It could be a repetition of what an older sibling says, or even music they hear. We have to eliminate use of these words before they become general usage for the next generation

Whoa. Bummer everybody is exhibiting their stupidity and absence of custom so blatently. Sorry you have been the sufferer to that junk. No, that's the 1st i've got heard that element era. In my family contributors we shaggy dog tale and snigger over our 'morning breath', yet I call it 'dragon breath'. We specially circumstances initiate the day off joking and giggling approximately how risky our breath is as quickly as we awaken. we are in basic terms a gaggle of sillies. Racism is yet another tale, even though. this is in no way okay to harm somebody else; choosing on somebody's custom/appearances is the stupidest, lamest situation i will think of. people who behave racist are somewhat selfish and can't see their own shortcomings. i desire you to stay risk-free. Be as careful as you have to be. Rednecks. Say not greater...
