by telling him, that she feels that the relationship is over, and that she wants to break up. tell her not to lie, but don't get into too many details.. if she gets into too many details what wrong with him, it will crush him. but she needs to tell him in person. Tell her to just come out and tell him.

I would call him or talk to him in person and just say that she doesn't have the same feelings as he does for her and that she wants to be single and experience new people. I'm sure that hes not a bad guy but she just doesn't like him anymore and she shouldn't be in a relationship where only one person likes the other.

your friends needs to let him know that she doesn't feel the same way he does. as far as the mother goes well she shouldn't have to worry because she is not dating the mother she is dating the son therefore she doesn't have to explain nothing to her.
( she should tell the guy A.S.A.P before he gets more into her then she'll make him feel even more ******-up)
