It couldn't be a coffin, because the man who invented the coffin - presuming it was a man - would be dead by now, and he would have wanted to be buried in one. Unless you can argue that being dead, he wants nothing. In which case you would have to argue that nobody needs a coffin after they are dead, only living people have needs.
