I honestly can't believe that you're not already allowing a 15 month old to feed himself finger foods and offering him a spoon, regardless of what the meal is, to attempt to use. Children should be offered a spoon, at every single meal, no later than age 1 (12 months). By 24 months the child should be able to scoop food onto the spoon and place it in their mouth, many will accomplish this important milestone long before then.
Gerber, Take and Toss, and many other companies make spoons designed for easy use by toddlers. They are brightly colored, and shaped so that little hands can hold and manipulate them easily.
It is important that you offer your child the opportunity to learn to feed himself as soon as possible. Afterall, you don't want to be spoon feeding a 3 year old!
If you're worried that he gets more food on himself than in himself, give him one spoon, and you take another, and both of you (you and your child) can participate. Be prepared, however, that he is probably going to want the spoon you're holding. You may have to give him 2 spoons and get yourself a third. Also, let him feed himself when you have plenty of time, and don't be surprised when he does things like holding the spoon with one hand and eating with the fingers of the other, or picking up food and placing it in the spoon before carrying the spoon to his mouth.
Good Luck!

let him have his own spoon during feedings. at that stage of feedings he should be ready to feed himself. He might get messy but thats what baby's do. If a spoon occupies him while you feed him then it won't be so hard on you or frustrating. Gerber makes some great finger foods for kids just for that reason. good luck

He is giving you a message loud and clear listen to it... He is ready to start attempting to feed himself.. Give him a spoon or two of his own to hold and use during meals and he will stop trying to commendeer the one you are using...
At 15 months he should already be rudimentarily using a spoon to feed himself in conjunction with finger foods..

Your fifteen month old wants to feed himself. Give him the spoon. You can also give him some finger foods ,he can feed himself. You can put milk or juice in a sippy cup. Show him how to hold it.

You should let him feed himself. He is letting you know they want to have control. He is asserting his independence. If you feel that he didn't get enough to eat you can try to feed him more when he is done. I work at a daycare and the babies start feeding themselves at 9 months. One thing we do when they first start is give them their own spoon while we feed them.

Let your baby learn how to use a spoon slowly. Take food and put it into small finger sized pieces. Gerber makes the "Graduate" food, that are perfect sized for little fingers and it has all of the nutrition that your toddler needs.

Let him feed himself too. Give him a spoon the same time that you are feeding him with another spoon. He has to learn how to feed himself sometime, the sooner the better. Let him have a go~!

Let baby feed it's self! thats how they learn, put him/her in the high chair give baby a spoon and let baby GO! i found mashed potatoes are helpful for them because it will stick on the spoon, and once baby starts eating on it's own you will be very glad believe me, you might get to eat your food while its still hot! But I know how it is if your in a little bit of a hurry or baby just wants to play in the food and is not feeding him/her self, so I would suggest the airplane and choo choo game also, but baby is ready to learn how to feed it's self so let him, Be sure to have a bath ready 4 baby when he/she is done, baby is most likely going to need it!! also baby will want to use only their hands it's messy but let them explore. hope this helps you!!!!!! Enjoy it with baby!

Make sure that he gets his veggies but by all means give that baby the spoon. Or try some food that he can pick up with his fingers. Steamed veggies are always good. Or some pudding for desert
