Placing graffiti on any public or private ediface is vandalism and/or malicious mischief, both of which are crimes. You can be arrested, tried in court, and fined and/or imprisoned, depending upon state law.
Because the removal of graffiti is so expensive, many communities are considering moving (or already have moved) this particular type of vandalism from misdemeanor to misdemeanor/felony, which carries a much harsher sentence.
You may think that graffiti is harmless. But, think of yourself as the owner of the building that has been "tagged." The owner will have to hire a painter to cover up the graffiti. Or, if you tag a public structure (even a highway overpass), the state must pay to have the graffiti removed.
The point is that taggers cause damage that has to be repaired.

Of course! If you get the permission of the owner of the 'canvas', then it is ART. Graffiti, by definition, is done without the permission of the owner of the 'canvas'. So, get arrested, and learn your lesson. If painting is so important, wny not do it legit? Or try a sport where there is risk and thrill, but no personal violation of proterty rights. Gymnastics, snow boarding, ice hockey? You can be thrilled and productive you know. Keep up your art, and creativity. But wisely, huh?

I take care of shopping centers for a plaza and its ignorant punks like you that cost people thousands of dollars each year! There are specified areas certain cities allow for graffiti art and you could always do it on a canvas anyway. Ive already had TWO different people arrested for it in the past two years.

You do graffiti and are asking if I can get arrested for it? I suppose that's possible, like, if I try to erase it and the cops think I wrote it, or, you file a lawsuit for tampering with your art.

Yes, for sure. It's vandalism. However, if you live in an urban area you might be able to convince a building's owner to let you "art up" a wall. Of course, this presumes you're good at doing graffiti! If you can only spray paint your tag you will probably find it hard to convince anyone to let you draw on their building!
Good luck!

Most likely, you will need to pay for the destroyed wall. Since this is your second offense, you might be put on community service or probation. Your young. Get you head out of your a$$ and start a life you want to live.

Well yes. It's called destruction of public property...or private depending on where you're doing it. Stop it. Get somebody to let you paint a mural on the side of their building or a brick wall somewhere.

It's called Criminal Mischief.
If you're a punk tagger, you need to go down. BUT...if you're one of the guys that does stuff like I saw last time I was in San Antone, kudos, dude. You rock.
