circulate to the FDR Memorial and walk all the way by it--on the top walk in the direction of the Tidal Basin. they have some small eastern lantern style issues (uncertain in the event that they illuminate at evening or not) there and a few park benches there. very super view of the Jefferson Memorial there reflecting interior the water. have faith this might by him off a sprint thinking he's merely going to verify the FDR.

All those are walking distance from Kennedy Center for Performing Arts... so take in a show or free concert event... most of these restaurants do a prix fixe menu pre-show and guarantee to have you out in time for curtain time :)

Of course you're allowed to just eat and relax too - lol

I recently went to Cafe Milano, in Georgetown and it was a very nice place, ask to be seated on the second level, it's pretty romantic up there, and even on the main level it's nice. I hope you like it.
