I am a Christian. I have close friends who are atheists, and have always been extremely polite regarding their choice to disbelieve, although I don't necessarily agree with it. I've never treated atheists with anything less than respect. That's just the way I was raised--to regard other people, even those with differing opinions, with dignity.

I don't know. I'm a Christian, and I don't treat atheists like an inferior life form. I know that God loves everyone whether they believe in Him or not, so I figure I should too. You must be hanging around some intolerant Christians. I apologize on their behalf.

Inferior life form, nah, atheists are just as human as Christians.

The thing that I do not understand about atheists is this. If you do not believe in God, a god, superior being, or force as most of you claim, then why are you constantly, irresistibly drawn to religious Q&A and religious chat rooms; because you are not confident in your non belief system and you need to make sure nothing has changed or what?

for the same reason many atheists treat Christians like inferior life forms.

My friend, I am a Christian...and no way, shape or form I believe you are any worse or better that I am...In fact, i believe that we are both created equal.

If some so called Christians have given you that perception, I do appologise and pray that this may not become a stensil to judge the majority on the grounds of the faults of the minority. In fact, Christianity has never been one to promote hatred nor sectarianism. On teh contrary, Christians are instructed to preach the joy they feel to you, out of LOVE and care, not through bible-bashing and inflicting the fear of God upon you.

Christ never bashed anyone not put them down...in fact, his closest were the sinners and athiests and non-believers and the ones that asked all the questions. and those that chose to walk away, he was sadened for them, but never condemned them nor cuirsed them. In fact, when Christ was even crucified, He asked the Father to forgive for they do not know what they do.

I hope this helps you (and acts as a lesson to all bashers out there)...God bless you and them and everyone else.

Some people like to feel superior to others. Both sides have been guilty of this. Petty Christians proudly declare that God is on their side and atheists are "the devil in disguise" and "ungrateful little demons who indulge in sin and praise Satan," even though they know this is untrue. And petty atheists proudly tout how much more intelligent and enlightened they are than Christians. It's really sad.

Christians (no offence to those how are not like this,, so i guess i should say most Christians) treat everyone like that. If they aren't of the christian faith, they arent worthy. They think they are better than us because they are the majority. And in this society "majority rules". Hope that helps or enlightens. :D

Blessed be.

It does go both ways, but your true christians and your true atheists will find a way to discuss things respectfully.

It is the ignorant that seem to stand out more

Not in the case of true Christians. They discriminate no one. But, you are right in regard to false Christians. On the other hand, aetheists believe that Christians are morons. Just look at the comments here.

I was raised Christian, but I have no problem with other religions. If anything, I would consider them. I think it's wrong when others think that their religion is the correct one and all others aren't.
