how can 1 be expected to embrace religion when as far as i can see its all about giving up things that i like! ive come this far without any divine intervention, relatively unscathed and moderately happy.religion is a money making swizz.you should wake up to that fact, before you have missed the life(boat)completely.and become bitterly dissapointed that this so called "god" does not and never has existed,i say that with the same amount of conviction as u would telling me why he does exist.

i do like the thought of re-incarnation! because just floating about in heaven being blissfully happy 24/7 seems incredibly DULL to me.

Who cares? Our lives are better than yours.
Have you not seen a person be healed? It happens all the time, people's legs that were cut off grow back!!! Can science explain that?

Religion is a misery, that's why Jesus came to deliver us out of its hand, and into the truth.
You want to say Heaven is dull, so be it.
The only reason you have made it this far in life is because of divine intervention. No matte if you believe it or not. God has protected you through every one of satans attempts to destroy you.
And so far being a Christian all I have given up is, the drinking, drugs, fighting and premaritalsex. I have had more fun as a Christian in the short 5 years I have been saved than in the 31 years before. Don't look at man or what you have to give up, but look at Christ and all you gain by following Him.

You sound exactly like my husband sounded when I first met him.
What, exactly, do you think you'd have to give up? And just because you like some things doesn't mean they're beneficial.
My life has changed since I became a Christian, but not in the way you'd think. I have no need to swear anymore (I usually don't have to stop myself. I just don't want to use that language!), I still like the occasional glass of wine but have no desire to get drunk, and when my husband wants to fight with me, I have no desire to yell back. I don't even get angry.
I haven't had to really give up much of anything...except:
My pain, my darkness, my sin, my misery, my discontent, my emptiness, and my hopelessness.
Come to think of it, the only things I've had to give up are things I never really wanted to begin with.
You're "relatively" unscathed, and "moderately" happy?
I was beaten down, scarred, and I thought I would never be healed. Well, my scars are still here, but I am HEALED emotionally as I never thought I would be.
"Moderately" happy? I'm beyond moderately happy. My soul is filled to overflowing with joy, peace, and love.
My religion isn't about money. Neither is my church. My pastor lives modestly, and so does everyone else in the church. And the people are SO loving, and kind, and just wonderful. Every time I go to church, I wish I never had to leave. It fills me, it feeds me, it sustains me, because my God is there!
This probably all sounds stupid to you. But I was where you are now, for twelve years. I hated God. I hated church. I hated Christianity. I passed through darkness. I hit rock bottom. God brought me through.
If God doesn't exist, and it's all just a lie, I have lost NOTHING. I would do it all over again, and again, and again. What about you?

Religion is total misery. I have to give up so much that i like to do. Although when you go to heaven none of it matters, so if you give it up now, it will be worth the trade for everlasting joy and happiness.

I agree with you. However, the ones most indoctrinated are the indoctrinators, and so there is hardly a way for those left in ignorance to reach the truth without a serious intervention.

Religion is set for the weak mind, of course there is nothing supernatural, religion is like a drug, once a person fell for it, is at the will of whoever preaches that particular creed, they are money makers and you can see how all them preachers live, in reality they are a bunch of corrupt people, thieves, but for those who follow them cuz I don't believe a word any of them says..âº

religion in and of itself is not bad. it's organized religion that is usually trying to make you do (or not do) things.
the only thing that i have given up for my religion is doing harm, and it was not a sacrifice.
maybe you are looking at the wrong religion.
