exactly what you think it means... lack of interest or indifference. If she is usually nice, then maybe she's having a bad day.

She could have been having a bad day or she's just a rude person, she could have at least returned the hello. I hate it when people give those fake half @ss smiles, that they drop, as soon as they get past you. Don't pay any attention to people like that, sometimes they're unhappy with themselves and they find a way to take it out on others. It's obvious that it bothered you, that she responded to your hello, in the way that she did, but you should think nothing of it and move on.

She's shy, really. Or she might have low self-esteem and thinks that she doesn't deserve the treatment you gave. Or she's not sure if you were really doing that to her or the person behind her.

I think she is just being polite back,and nothing more. It doesn't mean that she thinks ill of you.

It usually means she's shy, but at least she smiled. If you see her often, keep saying hi, but don't be pushy if you want to talk to her. Good luck.

If she ignores you a second time then you can decide to let it go.
