To put it simply, this truly is one of the great cities of the world.
The city itself pulses with the creative power of a million dreams all daring the world to hold them back. Whether you love great art, architecture, fashion, theater, food or you aspire to any of these or a hundred more, this is the epicenter of the entire world. If you have dreams, this is the one place where you can make them come true. It will come as no surprise to say that I could not imagine myself living anywhere else.

I'm not a New Yorker but an English gal who has spent a little time there & now lives appx 20 miles out ...
You should definitely pop over for a visit, get the cheap flights ie in the winter & search the internet hard for the best hotel rates - it is a wonderful city, soooooo much stuff to do & see, check out the Circle Line http://www.circleline42.com/ if you know anyone who lives in NY even better, get them to be your tour guide. Regardless come on your own for a 4 day long weekend & explore the sights. Americans are generally very nice & helpful just make sure you are in the main tourist area & check with the concierge guy at your hotel before you go off wandering .... they really are super helpful & will look after you .... service in the USA is unbelievable compared to the UK but remember if someone is really helpfull then a reasonble tip is appreciated
Hope you do visit & enjoy this great city ...

I love it. I've lived here my whole life and though I love to visit new cities, I would never live anywhere else.
You can get anything you want here, and usually get it delivered at 11:00PM! The public transportation system is great (not that it doesn't have it's quirks...) and it is easy to get where you need to go.
And no matter what people say, New Yorkers can be some of the nicest people you will meet. I get stopped all the time to give directions and help to tourists and I do it with a smile. I have a friend from Boston who is always amazed at how much nicer people are here than there!
Sure, it can be expensive, but the longer you live here, the easier it is to find a good way of life that works for you.
It's not for everybody....but I think everybody should try it at least once!

I LOVE it here - it's the greatest city in the world...
New York is a 24 hour city, any time of the day or night, there's something going on and it's full of amazing people from all over the world (there are over 200 different languages spoken here - the main ones are English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Russian and French)
New York City is a great place to visit - and an even better place to live (I've lived here my whole life, and I'd never want to live anywhere else)

Love it. Been here for over 15 years...came when I was 18. It's kind of like London, but dirtier (truth be told), and with a little more pep. You should come for a visit!

It's tough. There are lots of things to do. It's energetic. You can't get your feelings hurt easily, because people can be abrupt. You have to stand up for yourself. It's a great place to try to see if you like it.
