That being a Christian does not mean that a person is claiming to be without faults or sin. It just means we are trying to do better.

I'm ignoring the Additional Details as you seam alternatively irritated and I'm certain your issues don't seem to be directed at me. My pal is a Jehovah Witness (I'm now not) and he or she defined to me at some point approximately her faith. It helped plenty for the reason that earlier than I had, from television suggests that portrayed the faith in a foul gentle, notion that they had been mind washed. She defined the faith, why she adopted it. She used to be constantly competent to reply my calm questions with a relaxed reaction. We had been competent to be peers for 2 years after she defined to me why and I'm certain we nonetheless could be if I did not transfer. What I'm seeking to say to the folks that experience pass judgement on (which they seam to have performed out of your advert) is that you should not pass judgement on a faith earlier than you've gotten been in it or were near peers with any person that believes in it. Besides now not all Jehovah Witness are the equal, there maybe someplace one way or the other a man or woman that is mind washing folks beneath the fake pretense of faith, it occurs always with all religions (ever noticeable the film Jesus Camp?).

That we condone racism is the biggest misconception and the most common. We do not. It is completely against everything Asatru represents.

It is unfortunate enough people failed world history to know that Hitler and his ilk merely adopted the ancient religious symbols of the people who he idolized; the Germanic tribes. (Scandinavians, British, some Celts and, of course, Germans are all from the original germanic tribes.) These symbols are still in wide-spread use today for those of the Asatru faith, just as they have been for hundreds, or even thousands, of years.

Unfortunately, it will be a long time more before we manage to reclaim all of them from the hateful hands that managed to grab these precious symbols of faith not too many years ago.

Well, I dispute the word 'faith' as atheism isn't faith.

The misconception that bugs me the most is that we're theists, that we really do believe in god or in something (the word I supplied to my sort of theistic father was 'envelope').

I don't. I don't believe in god, envelope, goddess, an essence or intelligence. Nada.

GREAT question and what a lot of great answers!

This puppy should be "featured" -- gee, something in this category that's not all bashy.

How cool!

The greatest misconception about my faith is that it has something to do with the people I worship with or with the majority of things I believe.

My faith is a gift from God which comes by hearing His Word and allowing it to work through the presence of His love.

My faith is a human ability which man had before He was separated from God by sin. It has little connection with religious doctrine; beyond certain revelations spoken by the prophets and contained in Scripture.

My faith is unique to me; as the gift of faith has been to millions upon millions of others: whom God has blessed with various amounts of faith over time.

I would like people to know that it is really impossible to talk logically about "people of every faith" any more than it is pose a question for "people of every eye sight" or "people of every touch" or "people of every hearing."

By the sheer nature of who and what I am, I have no faith. I live my life in the realm of probabilities. Meaning I make decisions based off of the data at hand and what appears to be more probable. The universe that we live in is always changing, and so to must the life that resides in this universe be able to change and adapt to that change. Basing your life off of an unchanging idea or theology is harmful to spiritual and intellectual growth.

Actually two things...

The living God wants a relationship with all of us. Every single one of us. Doesn't matter what we've done in our past...we can ask for forgiveness and repent. It's for everyone...not just me.

He does this through Jesus Christ and we can live under grace. It's a free ticket to salvation. We can't earn our salvation by our works. No one is "good enough" to get salvation...it's a free gift from the living God.

The two greatest commandments are to love the living God with all that you are and have. The second is to love one another as Jesus has loved us.

Paganism is an ancient religion and existed thousands of years before Christianity;
pagan religious practices have nothing to do with "Satan" or the concept of "Satan";
pagan religious practices are to remember the Divine -- whether you refer to the Divine as God, Goddess or Supreme Being --
just the same as Christian religious practices.

Terrorism. That we are all terrorists and we dnt condemn it. Some muslims are like that, but not all. Heres the proof.

Also the muslims. We should correct our Tauhid and Aqeedah. There are many muslims who take innovation in the religion lightly. Its dangerous.

That Catholics are somehow not Christian. Christians are those who believe that there is one God, that Jesus is the Son of God, and that Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected from the dead. Catholics fervently believe all this. The Christian denominations all have the same origin - we just split into groups because of differences.
