How? Hitler was a Darwinist, and he killed six million Jews and millions of others, including Slavs, homosexuals, gypsies, Christians, communists, the list goes on and on . . .
And Stalin? He was loving, wasn't he? He killed 22 million of his own people, thinking that they were just intelligent animals and that there was no God to fear.
Pol Pot? He was a swell guy too, wasn't he. And Mao? Who wouldn't want to be under his wonderful rule? What about Cuba? Poor as dirt. I'm sorry, but man not having a purpose does not give us much hope or much respect for ourselves and others.
Atheist societies have been the most terrible in history with regard to human treatment, and yet people think that Darwinism, an unproven theory, has caused us to be more enlightened when we've really slipped into barbarity.

Let me tell you something:
Catholicism is not Christian, because it doesn't follow the bible. Hitler as not a Christian --- he was a neo-pagan who was planning to destroy Christianity after he got done with the Jews. The Crusaders where pagans, too.
And I know history --- it's my favorite subject, actually. : )

That's what I'm implying. Darwinism is a religion because it's unproven, therefore to believe in it is to have faith=a genuine religion.

I'll concede the evolutionists this . . .
Horizontal evolution (or macro-evolution), a change within a species, is true. Vertical evolution (or micro-evolution), lower lifeforms evolving into higher ones, is false. Darwin's finches show change within a species --- horizontal evolution. Vertical evolution, micro-evolution, is false.

I agree with your comments. The only thing Darwinism has achieved: making monkies out of people who believe in it.

I'm trying desperately to find the link believing in evolution and how it applies to your examples, and frankly, it doesn't exist.

Hitler was Roman Catholic, and despite your protests, Catholic is Christian...just not all Christians are Catholic.

Pol Pot was educated in Catholic schools.

Stalin believed that religion was an oppressive force to mankind (and history supports this claim). What most people don't realize though is that due to their support during World War II, the Russian Orthodox Church saw a revival as a patriotic organization, and was persecuted for acknowledging Stalin and his gov't as legitimate.

Castro has loosened many of the hard-line Communist restrictions on church and faith. His problem with faith is not faith itself, but the religious institutions, and their corruption.

You display a remarkable amount of indoctrination in things that you know nothing about. First, its evolution, not Darwinism. Secondly, you misuse the term theory, and claim that it is unproven. There are mountains of evidence to support, verify, and prove the evolutionary process, yet a small handful of the faithful refuse to even view it. Barbarism is in no way limited to atheistic society, and in fact, the numbers point in the other direction. The crusades, Inquisitions, witch-hunts/trials, genocide of thousands of peaceful tribes for failing to convert, terrorist bombings by religious extremists (not limited to Iraq and 9/11, but including those performed on abortion clinics also), all have can lay their blame squarely and totally on faith.

EDIT: You've switched Micro and Macro evolution in your statement...and missed one vital point. Change is change, regardless of its magnitude. The terms micro and macro serve as nothing more than a game of semantics to allow you to hold onto your superstition.

I don't understand how Darwinism would have anything to do with being enlightened or even Atheist. Evolution is a fact. It can't be denied. Why does one have to pick the Darwin theory vs. the God theory? And enlightenment? Religion has been responsible for more killings in history than everything you have mentioned. People need to use their own brain instead of simply following the flock like sheep.

It wasn't Hitler's belief in evolution that inspired him to murder millions of Jews, homosexuals, gypsies, and others. The one attribute all those historical persons had in common is intolerance.

And I'm sorry if the truth doesn't jive with some people's comfortable religious ideas, but evolution is a proven scientific fact. You may not consider it "helpful," but it is important that we understand the natural processes at work in the universe.

If you speak of "Darwinism" as a systematic and considered weeding out by Man of his fellow Man, then that is simply human nature enacted with the window dressing of ideology behind it. It doesn't have to hang its hat on the Theory of Evolution any more than it does on Christianity or Islam or Communism or any other doctrine. It is my opinion that Man simply uses these excuses to carry out a biological imperative to keep the population from overgrowing and to assert dominance in communities. If one wishes to worship under the aegis of "Survival of the Fittest," then I don't see how this ties in with the formal "theory of evolution," which is a scientifically proven fact. One might as well worship the God of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, since we all know those are a proven fact as well...

You are a most fascinating person. You think in one of the most irrational ways that I have seen yet on yahoo answers. It might be in your best interest to do some research on the subject of science and evolution, or you might just want to take a trip to the Galapagos islands. This is a place where they have actually PROVEN some of the theories on evolution.

Darwin is in regard to biology/physique shape. sociology learn societies and most of the competing ideologies approximately society is chop up between Durkheim (maximum conservative), Weber (reasonable), and to the different extreme, Marx (dialectic). Take a social stratification direction or examine a e book approximately it. that's quite exciting.

Compare what Darwin proposed concerning evolution and what Freud proposed concerning human behavior and how it's supposedly passed from generation to generatiom.
They have both been accepted as truth but yet they prove each other wrong go figure.

There is no such thing as Darwinism. The ending "ism" is used to refer to a belief, or desire. Darwin did not ask anyone to believe in him. He merely presented facts as he saw them.

And, sadly, the most dangerous people are those who believe that they have a remit from God to commit any atrocity they like.

Jesus put the whole question into perspective. He said that the first commandment was to love God, with your whole heart - and the second commandment was to love your neighbour. Which neighbour has Mr. Bush loved? Just the rich ones.

Ever hear of a little thing called "The Crusades?" Or how about the Spanish Inquisition? What about all those past Christian kings who waged war against their neighbors?

Edit: No, the Crusades were not performed by Pagans, they were performed AGAINST Pagans and usually sactioned by the Pope as well.
