wow, 65 processes is too much, mine shows 21, it would be really hard to tell which processes you don't need w/o looking at your system. first of all what you can do is go to start/run msconfig then go to startup tab and disable everything you don't need at startup, then also go to services tab, then click on hide all microsoft services and disable non microsoft services that you don't need.

also you can disable following micosft services

Remote Administrator
secondary logon
tcp/ip netbios help
upload manager
windows time
workstation
messenger sharing
task scheduler

also you can disable automatic updates and background transfer service

Not sure about how many you should have running but removing some of the programs that start with Windows is a good start:

Start -> Run -> type msconfig -> OK -> click on the Startup tab and unchecks the ones you DON'T want starting with Windows. That can help speeding up your PC a bit.

Also right click on MyComputer -> Properties -> Advanced -> click Settings under Performance -> check Adjust for best performance -> OK -> OK

Good luck

You may want to check your PC for spyware/adware. That will make your pc RUN REALLY SLOW.

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

the best way is to dowload WinTasks 5 Pro , you can see the processes and some explain about them
and kill the unwanted ones.
