To put it simplistically, there are two types of Christians:
Those who believe that fetuses, infants, toddlers, and really young children go to Heaven upon dying, as they have not had the opportunity to be saved and God is gracious enough allow them entry to Heaven.
Those who believe those listed above go to Hell upon dying, as they are not saved and anyone who is not saved through God spends eternity in Hell.
This question is not for those in the latter camp. With that belief, I can see why those people oppose abortion.
But why oppose abortion if you believe that the fetus will go to Heaven? Better that the child die with a guarantee of Heaven than the child die after having a chance of rejecting God. So, if you believe in God granting them entry to Heaven, then abortion would actually be a good thing.
While I know that murder is a sin, it would be a blessing to send the fetuses to Heaven. Isn't the abortion doctor's soul worth it for all the souls he sends to Heaven?

Besides, the doctor's soul may not be in jeopardy, as he may ask for forgiveness. But surely God would understand if the doctor were simply doing God's work. After all, a missionary has a chance to doom the savage to Hell by teaching him about Christianity; he might have a 1% chance or a 99% chance. But the abortion clinic has a 100% chance of sending the soul to Heaven.
So, if Christians are to be forgiving, and if abortion sends a soul to Heaven in a way that's much more effective than evangelism, then how can Christians be pro-life?

Oh, and anyone can answer this question, especially if you believe that unborn souls go to Heaven (e.g., Muslims). I'm curious about all answers.
If you accept that unborn souls go to Hell, then I think I know your answer to this question anyway, but feel free to speak out.

Another one of those questions concerning human behavior that can not really be answered...people just believe the way they do whether there is logical reasoning to it or not.
I am not a religious person but I believe that Christian people who oppose abortion because as an adult, the potential abortee can help to convert other people to the prefered religion...heaven or hell is not the issue really. If the child who could grow up to be another Billy Graham is aborted, who will preach the message of salvation?
Ahhh...I just gave an answer for the opposition...I'm pro choice. I enjoy playing devil's advocate.
OK. So on the other hand, if we abort children who will not be loved or appreciated, we will also prevent higher levels of crime, satan worship and athiesm when a neglected child is grown and that child will automatically be rewarded with pie in the sky.
There, I've argued both sides equally...I'm still pro choice.
WHO SAYS NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DO THEY CONDONE ABORTION!!!!????? Not only did the Bible condon abortion, they allowed children under the age of two to be killed at the parents, community or king's command. Biblical parents could not only whip their children but were allowed by old testament law to stone them to death for disobedience!!!! Knock off imaginary scripture!
More comment: Nikki...killing people in war for oil is also playing God and disobey's god's command to not kill. If killing is wrong for abortion, it is wrong for war too...It isn't anymore right to kill an adult than it is to kill a fetus...in my opinion killing adult fully developed human beings is even more wrong. So much for "thou shalt not kill"

Some people beleive that the soul is attached to the body at inception, others state it is longer.. We do not live in a religous state, we have a government, its rules are different than that of a religion. Maybe if the Pope was also the president then things would be different.
Those that beleive the soul is attached at inception, see only the snuffing out of a life that might have meant something big to the world, a child destroyed for convenience when much more could have happened
And the biggest argument I have heard is that abortion is murder, and Thou Shalt not Kill. Important enough God etched it on stone. What more can you say either you beleive or your dont. There is no maybe

Murder is murder and it is never acceptable whether or not the souls go to heaven. Man does not have the right to take a life.
Apparently you feel fetuses and young children are expendable. ALL life has equal value.
Hey, why not murder adults if they are Christians and heaven-bound? Why not get them on their way to a better place sooner? Do you feel that is acceptable? Where do you draw the line? Guess you're playing God and deciding who lives and who dies.
How about if your mother aborted you and sent you to heaven? Is that acceptable? Your logic is shaky at best.

every soul matters to God. while saving souls is important, so is disobeying God. many pastors and/or christians will argue that abortion is murder, which is against the ten commandments. the purpose of living is to have a relationship with God, this is what He wants all humans to have. God gives us a choice when we are old enough to understand the meaning of our decisions. So in the long run, it is better for an abortion not to occur for the sake of the doctor and a genuine relationship with the Divine.
I agree with rocky road

Maybe you're not thinking of real reasons why people might be opposed to abortion. You are quite simply separating Christians - a religious group - into two different groups. You have to remember that although people have religious beliefs, they are still in fact people, who also have their own sets of morals based on family values and the values of society. You fail to recognize the fact that in most cases, people are influenced by the people around them, regardless of their religious beliefs.
It could be possible that your experiences with Christians lead you to believe they are generally opposed to abortion, but have you given any thought as to why? I could generalize society as being separated by conservatives and liberals and know which group, for the most part, is for or against abortion, just as you did with Christians. Realize that in some laws killing a pregnant mother gets you time for the death of the mother and the unborn child. Law is made of society's views, not those of the church.

Salutations,
I, in my own opinon, believe that abortion is wrong; yes i am a christian, the reason i believe it to be wrong because you don't know the plan God had for the Child, yes, if the child was born there is always a chance that the child could reject God, if that is the case the child could hear the gospel and decide for themselves what they want to do. God gave you a mind to think for yourself and to make decisons for yourself, He already knows whatyou are going to do before you make it, so if the child gets aborted there could have went a powerful man or woman of God that could have lead hundreds or maybe thousands to our Saviour Jesus Christ. I mean you just don't know.
Worry about nothing, Pray about everything, and love everyone as Christ loves you

-"For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother's womb" (Psalm 139:13).
-"And now says the Lord, who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him" (Isaiah 49:5).
-"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations" (Jeremiah 1:5).
-"For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine or liquor; and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, while yet in his mother's womb" (Luke 1:15).
-"But when He who had set me apart, even from my mother's womb, and called me through His grace" (Galatians 1:15).
The Bible makes it clear that an unborn baby is a person who is known by God. Besides the emotional, phychological, and physical complications that are so often connected with abortion, in the eyes of God, it is the murder of an innocent human being. The truth is, at conception, that single celled person we like to call an "embryo" contains his or her full complement of DNA (everything the full grown adult will be).
I have to agree with the bumper sticker I saw not too long ago: "As a former fetus, I oppose abortion." What if your mother would have had an abortion? What if the mother of Noah, Abraham, or Moses would have had an abortion? What if the mother of Jesus would have had an abortion?

This is a good question and I have thought about this before. I believe that unborn children do go to heaven but because this is so does not justify murder.
It would be equivalent to saying 'why don't you just kill your kids when their young so they don't have a chance to fall away from God'. This kind of logic could make infanticide ok too.
God has His laws for a reason and He told us not to kill. I believe our ultimate authority and aim should be to obey God. If God has created a life then I don't think it is our business to interfere.

Murder is murder. Why should abortion be accepted when the mother is committing a sin? On top of that, what if the child grew up to become a future saint? The parent is denying the world of a great thing.

That is such a great question. Remember, you have to think about it in these terms. Is it ahuman life at conception, or is it not human until it is born? If it in fact, is a human life at conception, then it is murder. Murder is wrong. Thou shalt not kill is qualified by Jesus " Thou shall do no murder". Yes, I believe that all babies go to heaven. However, God chose to create a life. Who are we to decide that we don't want this child? Another thing to think about. What if this life is the life of the future inventer of the cure for cancer? Just a thought. Thanks.
