dang, your dad sounds either really up tyght or this is your first detention.
Dad- just tell him. every parent wants thur "darlin" to be perfect, if he lectures you, just agree to everything he says and try not to fill in the details as much as possible. You might get grounded or sumthin, but thats lyfe. Besides, I guess it builds character.. or sumthin lyke that.
First Time- There's a first time for everythin. If your dad rats all on you, just say to him "like YOU havent ever been in trouble" or say your not perfect and that nobody is. It's the truth.

If it were me I would tell my dad why but not share the whole story. I would say I got passing a note to one of my really good friends asking them something stupid like what they were having for lunch and I got caught. Say it will never happen again and you are sorry.

When you tell him, just act casual like it's not a big deal. If he gets really mad, just patiently explain how sorry you are for disappointing him and how you will never let it happen again. (It's a good idea not to make a promise you can't keep though, so if you think that it might happen again, don't say it won't.) Also, you might try turning it into a joke about how strict your school is.

what kinda nazi camp do you attend?
Tell your pops the TRUTH. He'll look at the sentence of detention as worse of an action that note passing to a boy.
Fathers are protective when it comes to their girls. If he doesnt like you passing notes period, show how unhappy you are that you got detention. He'll see it as "Justice" and he would more than likely let it be. "They're keeping my girl away from those boys...." is what he'll be thinking.
You need to transfer to another school though......thats unfair.

hes a dad. hell get it. he was young once too. tell him what happened. ask for his advice. detention is no big deal. my dad would have given me a lecture, then started teasing me. really, trust your father. go tell him. show him this thread! hell get that your upset, and will give you the guidance that he know that you need.

Its better to tell your parents the truth rather then lie to them & they find out later as you could then be in more trouble.
