I've never been to Australia, but I do wonder about their driving mentality, just out of curiosity. To give you examples of what I'm looking for, here's how driving styles of other countries strike me, and I'd love to read something in that vein from anyone who may have experienced driving in Australia:

UK driving seems inspired by a good-natured team spirit, and you can move through thick traffic while people help you along, but be prepared to accelerate off the line like mad, as everybody does.

New Zealand driving is oddly hurried and risky, people are whisking their cars along at unreasonably high speeds and get pushy, but tend to be nice people once they get out of their cars.

German driving is oddly sign-controlled, and people will obey signs and regulations in drastic wways and at the expense of fluency of traffic, but driving is very safe there.

French driving is relaxed with the odd road rage candidate.

Any takers? Cheers.

It gets pretty fast on those rural roads, but in town it's like Chinese drivers everywhere, except some of them are over 4 foot tall...
