Put the fattest, worst possible picture of you on your fridge or snack cupboard, whatever, and every time you want to snack you'll see that picture and hopefully decide not to eat just for sake of eating.

Whatever you do, stay FAR away from Overeater's Anonymous. They will convince you that you're powerless to control your problem (untrue) and that you need their brand of creepy religion in order to change. It's a 12-step based program that uses the same faulty philosophy as Alcoholics Anonymous. The rub is that the 12 steps apply EVEN LESS to eating than they do to alcohol (which isn't much in the first place). Why would you have to make ammends to those you harmed by eating donuts?
There is no help there...they will insist that you shouldn't diet, but hand you a very restrictive diet to follow. Then you'll have to report every bite of food that goes into your mouth to a completely insane "sponsor."
You probably don't need a therapist either! You can probably find groups on line, inexpensive books (even at the library) about over eating, and you can probably find lots of physically active things to do to a) keep yourself away from food, and b) burn some calories.
Consider that over eating is NOT an "addiction." You NEED to eat...you must do so to survive. Not everything is a disease. Just because you enjoy food and have a hard time resistign it, that doesn't mean you need to feel you have a life sentence of some disease or disorder.
Just keep yourself busy, focus on why you want to be healthy, and use your friends and family for support.

Hi Unique. Is it eating disorders? Bulimia or Anorexia? When you say you have an eating addiction is it that you eat a lot?
If you do not have money for a therapist try a acupuncture, if you do not have money for that eather try positive thinking.
Everytime you get obsessed with food, breath deep, many times because part of eating disorders are caused by anxiety and breathing gets it better. Once you breathed and relax think clearly why am I eating this? Do I really need this now?.....

That's a cop-out. There are plenty of programs for people who don't have insurance and low income. First there is Overeaters Anonymous. You said you can't stop eating, right? That is free. And everyone there has been where you are. If you need more help, contact your county's department of social services and they will get you seen by a doctor.

Look into Overeaters Anonymous like one other answered. You can also go to your local hospital and ask for a referral. Many hospitals offer "free care". Our local hospital does for all kinds of illnesses and disorders. You'll be just fine! Take care of yourself-you're worth it! God bless you.
