I took it before I knew what it was.

No. They'll probably call your house if you get a good score. Just tell them you don't want to join and to take you off of their list.

I took it in 11th grade just to get out of class because it was free. I actually did really well. Totally worth it to get out of that English class.

The only draft that will affect you these days is if you leave a door or a window open... not bad for a war that's dragged on for about four years now, has had incredibly low numbers of American casualties (regardless of the rap it's had every day in the news and by its detractors), and otherwise hasn't directly affected Americans' everyday life, even though some people act as though it is. I'm not the only person to have said this, nor is this the first time I've said it: this country is NOT at war; its military is. War used to be a thing the whole country was involved in, from victory gardens to war bonds to civilian labor corps to what have you. How much of a percentage of the American populace is actually INVOLVED in this war now? Really, very few. That is not to say that the way the war is being managed needs to be called in to question and fixed--it does. But I'm sick and tired of people screaming and hollering about a war that not only hasn't affected them directly in any way, they've yet to lift an actual finger to help out in any way--and those people you'll never, ever see anywhere near a MEPS station or a recruiter, for those same people would be scared shitless to do such a thing, were there a war going on or not.

To the main question, though, no, you won't be drafted or otherwise forced into service just because you took the ASVAB. It's a placement test... it helps the military determine what some of your strengths are, how articulate you are, your overall intelligence level and potential... but it's about the only test of its kind. In the Army, at least, once you're in, the only test they'll really judge you by is the PT test, to see how fast you can run, and how well you can do push-ups and sit-ups--that ASVAB score really just goes out the window and has little bearing after your initial enlistment and choice of MOS has occurred. The PT test is a poor judge of character, leadership potential, or job proficiency, but it seems that currently the Army is confusing PT scores for all those things... bear that in mind. I'm less sure of the other services (Marines are the same, I believe), but I would be pleasantly surprised if either the Air Force or the Navy were any different in this regard--but if they are, kudos to them.

The ASVAB is a series of tests to determine aptitude. Its purpose is to give a young person an idea of what field they could go IF they decided to go into the military. This test is only good for 1 year.

Since there is no draft and hasn't been for over 30 years, the answer to your question is NO you WILL NOT be drafted for taking the ASVAB any more than taking the SAT/ACT guarantees that you will get accepted to Harvard or Notre Dame.

there is no draft so you can't be drafted. The asvab is basically just a placement test. if you score highly you'll be hearing from recruiters and receiving recruitment mail but other than that you aren't in the military until you sign on the dotted line.

NO. Where is this idea coming from?

I know the Iraq war gives the military a bad rap these days. but having come off active duty 2 years ago 9and doing an Iraq tour 2003). I do look fondly over my first 5-6 years on active duty. Being single and in the military was pretty fun, a lot of travel with decent pay, closest thing you can get as adventure these days. Once I got married the civilian world with its stability/monotony looked better.

No. You do know there is no draft right? You can sign up for the miltary, go take the ASVAB and still not ever spend a day in the military.

No more drafts, but you would be inviting them to recruit you especially. You might get some hats or something out of it. I took it and when they called I told them I was 5'3 and 300 lbs, they never called again. At the time I was 5'7 and 210. It's a fun test. I got 90+ percentile on every section.

at the start, an 18 on the plan is advantageous and you ought to get in to lots of colleges with that score, a 32 is Ivy League. The ASVAB is a tough attempt, even though it particularly is greater like a worry-unfastened sense attempt. in case you are able to graduate severe college, you are able to bypass the ASVAB. i does no longer stress too lots approximately it, and it particularly is no longer a attempt you are able to learn for. additionally, in case you do no longer bypass it on the 1st attempt, they are going to permit you save taking it till you bypass it.

No, but it does mean they are more likely to try and recruit you because you are in their system as taking the ASVAB.

And you look like a woman based on your pic, and women don't get draft cards or drafted.

No. That just tells you what your Military Occupation Specialty will be like it tells you what you would be good at and this test also tells you if you can join the military by your score. Go onto Goarmy.com and ask a recruiter though.
