the only bad thing about it is that if you eat to much of it, then you don't have enough left for cookies and then have to make another batch...

Eggs have the potential to cause salmonella poisoning.

f the egg has been improperly handled, though, you might experience the foodborne illness called salmonellosis. You could have symptoms of abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, chills, fever and/or headache within 6 to 72 hours after eating. The symptoms usually last only a day or two in healthy people but can lead to serious complications for the very young, pregnant women, the elderly, the ill and those with immune system disorders.

Most people don't have an issue though and can eat many batters and doughs raw without problems. Just make sure you have good eggs!

There's a bunch of sugar there, but that'll still be in the cookie after it's baked. The big reason is salmonella. If you used raw eggs in the dough, it's possible that the eggs were contaminated. Salmonella poisoning will not make you a happy camper, and it can be a very serious disease. So eat dough if you want - I still do - but be aware that if you eat very much, or get any stomach cramps, vomiting, etc, you need to get proper medical attention very soon.

yes, most baked good recipies call for eggs, so you're essentially eating raw eggs, which can carry salmonela and all sorts of other bugs that can make you sick

with that said, I used to eat cookie dough, cake mix, lick the pans and such when I was a kid and I don't remember ever getting sick, but it probably also depends on how much you ingest too

If it is made with raw eggs at home it may give you salmonella infection from the germs in the raw eggs. I think most commercial cookie dough is made with pasteurized eggs so that should not be an issue. And it does taste so good.

Yes, raw eggs carry salmonella and that can kill you.
But stealing one or two little bites is ok!
