I read that some Buddhists conclude that sexual misconduct would include adultery, child molestation, incest, rape, sexual abuse in any form, and sexual harassment. Further, consensual sexual activity by a committed couple is not misconduct (whether engaged in by a heterosexual or homosexual couple).

The main precept of Buddhism is accepting what is, regardless of what that may be.
As the Dalai Lama once said, "Why worry? If you know you can solve the problem, then there's no need to worry. And if you know you cannot solve the problem, then why worry?"
Peace be with you...

The first and foremost point one should remember when considering the role of Buddhism in the human agenda is the emphasis on compassion. Alleviating suffering is a call of Buddhism. Homosexuality was in fact condemned by some Buddhist sects many centuries ago, others do not mention it at all. But again, if the homosexuality is practiced in a way that causes suffering of the participants and the community, then it is frowned upon. There is a reason that many Buddhist vocations recommend celibacy... So, if one functions within a homosexual community that does not bring suffering to those around it and the sexual orientation does not bring suffering to any involved, then the issue should be moot. As in all religion, a judgement call on the part of the individual is required. One final point, technically, Buddhism is not a religion....

I am not a Buddhist or I guess maybe I'm a secular Buddhist. I take much of value in their philosophy and principles for living but I am neutral about the reality of reincarnation. I do know that this depends on the branch of Buddhism. The text below is from the religious tolerance website.
"As with Christianity, no consensus exists within Buddhism about gay and lesbian relationships. Buddhism is most concerned with whether an action is helpful and based on good intentions. This differs from Christianity which often evaluates an action, based on whether it is good or evil; positive or sinful according to a system of morality.
Apparently, the Buddha did not leave any teachings on homosexual orientation or homosexual behavior. He strongly encouraged his followers to "be a lamp onto yourself" -- to examine and test the truth of religious teachings before accepting them.
Many women, gays and lesbians have been attracted to Buddhism because of its relative lack of misogyny and homophobia, when compared to some other religions. But others report "virulently anti-gay sentiments and teachings from religious teachers in Tibetan and other Buddhist" schools
From the Theravada Buddhist standpoint, all relationships: gay, lesbian or straight, are often considered personal matters of mutual consent. If a relationship promotes the happiness and well-being of both parties, then it is positive and acceptable. Many Buddhists believe that sexual orientation is beyond a person's control, as are race and gender. They feel that gays and lesbians should have the same civil rights and benefits as do all other persons."

As far as I know, beside from monks, I've never really heard them speak against homosexual. Only time I really notice them speak against any kind of sexuality is if it's meant to hurt others (trick someone into think you love them then leave after sex or rape and other thing like that).
So don't worry about being homosexual.

No, if anything, you're doing the right thing by supporting others no matter their sexual preference.

No...buddhism is more about yourself and bringing out the best in your life. Whether it be your single, gay married, etc...life is about happiness...not prasing to a budda or god.
