There are a couple of really common ones you might to avoid: Sadie, Daisy, Bailey, Kaya. Some unisex common ones to avoid: Harley, Bear, Dakota, Koda. Not that they're not good names, they're just really common. My rule of thumb is never name a dog anything you wouldn't name a human: my female dogs were Georgia, Mercy and Thibadeux (Thibs is a Katrina dog - hence the cajun name). I also like Lilah, Grace, Lola. I'm also partial to the 'bowling team' names - old fashioned names - Ethel, Martha, etc. Ellie is pretty. I don't know - maybe look at some that would be appropriate for the color - a yellow lab could be Marilyn (or Monroe) or Cameron. A chocolate lab could be Dietrich or Shakira. A black lab could be Lucy (like Lucy Lu).

Check some of the baby name sites, too.

If she were mine, like you I'd be making a list of names that I liked the sound of & then seeing which suited her most, or which one she responded to that I wouldn't feel silly calling out in the park.

So - suggestions to add to your list ... why not name her after a place in Labrador? eg:

Black Tickle, Cupids, Flower's Cove, Gooseberry Cove, Paradise & Victoria (amongst many more - see the link below)

So how about Tickle or Kell, Cupid or Q, Flower or Florrie, Gooseberry, Goosie or Berry, Paradise or Disey, Victoria or Tory?

There's also a place with a truly unbelievable name starting with a D - but I don't suggest that you call her that <>
