I own a home remodeling company, and I am a decorator also who invests in properties and turns them back out on the market. When I have done homes that are light grey in color, I have used black shutters b/c it is more timeless and elegant allowing for great curb appeal and greater resale value. .With black shutters you can opt for a red/burgundy door for more striking appearance or stick to a black door. The other color I have used is a wine/burgundy color which lends itself beautifully for a more stark contrast against the light grey, and have tied the burgundy shutter back into the house with burgundy, wine, cranberry toned plant life, surrounding the front of the house. I love the color plum personally, but for resale value and greater curb appeal I would stay away from it. Instead pick up the plum color through your plant life to enjoy it. Plum colored plantings will work with either the above mentioned colors, while still allowing you to enjoy some of your favorite color without the permanency of placing it on a front door or shutters. Hope this helps! Happy Decorating! :0)

If you want it to accent the widows you will need a little color, we have light grey with a country red, but I think my favorite is the light grey siding with the deep burgundy shutters. White looks too start against the grey. Some people will use black shutters with the grey especially if the roof is black. Get some paint samples close to the color of shutters you think you might like and hold them up to the siding and see what you think.

Before you commit, drive around a couple of new neighborhoods to get a real idea of how certain colors work together. I think you'll find that the shutters match the trim color, and the front door is often a stand alone "pop" color. Either way it's personal taste.

Burgundy would be my 1st pick,
but anything in a dark color would stand out nicely.
For modern taste you could go black or a dark chocolate brown.
Grey siding gives you lots of choices.
Pick up a color swatch thing from your local paint shop and play around.
Try using Behr.com and try colorsmart, choose exterior and it will let you go through some idea's about what colors look good together.
Good luck and happy painting!

To make it really pop and look pretty i would use white on the shutters. You can also use white or a bright red on the door.

I would go with black shutters and door, and white trim around the windows eaves.

shutters:light blue or burgundy, doors:any colour, even red
but you don't necessarly need to match the colours, you have to make it the way YOU like it
Personalise it your own way
It will look great and you will feel the same
