Are there a bunch of doctors sitting around playing on the internet waiting for our medical questions? I can understand general questions but a lot of the ones I've seen are questions best suited for a professional.

Some people really dont have much idea! There are people here with knowledge and I have seen a couple of "doctors" (if they really are is questionable! lol). I know a fair bit from many years of nursing and will often give an opinion and tell the person to get medical advice. As do many others!
I agree that many of the people need to get off their PCs and visit the doctor!!!

I have been sorely tempted to ask that very same question, myself.

Truly...If you have had sex, shouldn't you KNOW that of course you COULD be pregnant, and should see a doctor right away? If you don't know that, you shouldn't be having sex!!

If you have a part of your tooth exposed, can't you tell that you should see a dentist as soon as possible?

If you have a rash, and a fever, isn't it ENTIRELY OBVIOUS that you need to go to the urgent care without delay?

Why is it so easy for people to post their questions here, but apparently so difficult for them to navigate to WebMD where there is actual medical advice?

How would any of us know? Most of the users on this site can't spell, for pete's sake...they obviously don't have medical training.

I am personally baffled by this phenomenon.

You would be surprised as some health care professionals do check in from time to time---to help others and relax.

Just be careful in following any specific advice.

You are correct in that sometimes it is best to ask most questions to a professional or check a medical website.

I'm not a real doctor, but I play one on the internet. So, ask me anything you want an unqualified medical opinion about and I will gladly oblige you with imaginative and sincere anecdotal medical opinions regardless of credibility.

I agree. I just think that maybe some of these people have no insurance or limited insurance and this is the best they can get. I don't mind though, cause I like to pretend like I am a Dr. on Yahoo.

Well I'm not a Dr., I have been a nurse for 25 years and if all else fails ,beside me I have my PDR guide to Prescription Drugs, and my PDR guide to medical questions asked by familys. And I always tell them to see a Dr.

Most people think that medical doctors know everything. Sometimes just an average person with life experiences can give a better answer than any doctor.

There may not be doctors on here much but there are plenty of nurses, EMT's and other healthcare professionals on here who can at least offer a bit of advice.

fairly of taking the experienced, qualified advice of a doctor, those people can purely sit down in discomfort and style their symptoms to us! See? cut back out the middle guy and save a $20 co-pay. confident, we must be incorrect, or somewhat off, some-days yet...
