Keep him busy. Go in the yard run around, play in the leaves (if your up north). Fresh air will help knock him out early so u might get a lil reprieve in the evening. Play with him, puzzles coloring books, cars his favorite toys. No soda, no chocolate, no sweets will make it much easier.

Don't talk to him in any voice above a whisper. I've used that time after time with rooms full of children and it always works. They want to listen to you so they really have to stop and pay attention, then you tell them very quietly what you are going to do next, play a game, read a book, whatever, and just keep calm. Good luck!

Try getting him to play a game with you, something that catches his attention. Or make a healthy snack together. Find a movie that he's interested in. Just pay some attention to him and play with him.

That's why scouts learn Knots.
Challenge him. Think of an activity that will be fun but difficult for him. If you can't think of one ask him. Thinking of one could be his first challenge.

Ask him what his favorite DVD is, put that on, dim the lights, make him food and be as good as you can.
Afterwards try to let your friend know that you cannot do this again.
