My husband has O.C.D.! He is has many rituals and strange quirks, for instance:
1) when he takes off his shoes, his laces all have to be pulled straight toward the front
2) he must buy 5 tacos at Taco Bell even though he is only hungry enough to eat 3
3) when he goes to a new store where ever he parked that first time is HIS parking place for life! And he must always drive all the way into the one infront of it so he doesn't have to back out
4) he must wear certain color shirts each day of the week and must where only those colors on those days. And by the way, they must be in the sequence of the rain bow!

I could go on but I think you get the picture. Are you on medication? He is on Zoloft. It has changed his life. He is very happy on it ...... and I AM SO HAPPY HE IS ON IT, TOO. LOL You're not alone, honey.

I think everyone's obsessive about something, to a greater or lesser extent. A friend and I both say we need to have an even number of pegs on the line when hanging out the laundry, she does the toilet-roll changing thing described by other answerers, and another friend can't stand to have doors inside her house closed - a problem, as her teenaged son is very messy, and she also hates mess. I need to have something to read while I'm eating. I'm also dreadful hoarder, according to my family, but I'm nowhere near as 'bad' as people who can't get around in their homes for all their 'essential stuff'. When does behaviour like this cross the line from 'normal' to 'abnormal'? Hard to say, really - some people who profess to be normal have habits others find very odd. I'm not denigrating OCD sufferers - it can be a very debilitating condition. But there's no sharp line - witness some other answers here!

Yes, I think I may have.
When I am hanging the washing out, I will not use two different coloured pegs, they must be the same colour.
When I put my plates in the cupboard the lines on the plates must be in the same place, so that it looks neat when I open the cupboard door.
When my son was younger I would always put his left sock or shoe on first.
I always go back and check if I have switched off the iron or hair straighteners, even when I know I always switch them off as soon as I have used them.
Do I qualify , or am I just mad? !!

I also have OCD tendencies. Before I can go to bed or leave the house, I have to check all burners on the stove and curling irons or clothes irons if I used them at least 3 times each. When I go to bed at night, I have to check to make sure all doors are locked at least 2 to 3 times too. It drives my husband nuts. I feel that I started getting these tendencies because of my mom though. She used to do the same thing when I was growing up and she made us check everything numerous times.

Sort of but not in the conventional flicking the light switch way or washing hands. I sort of feel the need to do things 4 times, or do something a second time if it felt unlucky when I did it, or if I was thinking a negative thought while I did it -as if something bad will continue if I dont. Weird - Ive got problems.

I wouldn't say it rules my life but I have to have the toilet roll round the right way and I even change them in other people's houses, restaraunts etc. I also cannot shut my eyes for the last time when going to sleep if I have looked at the clock and it is13 minutes past or 13 minutes to the hour so I wait for a minute, look again and then I'm set! VERY STUPID!

Yes I do. Especially when I was younger. I had to count stairs as I walked up or down them. Once I had the number memorized I no longer needed to hold on to the hand rail.

When I feed my horses I have 3 stables I lock them all up at night but by the time I get to the gate I have to go back and check them again.
