Why do many think that Catholicism is Christian when it clearly does not follow the Bible? Galatians 1 says, "Cursed is anyone who preaches a different gospel, or way to heaven, than the one that is found within the Bible." Quite frankly, I believe that the "Church" has done more to hurt Chrisitanity than anything else, causing confusion amongst those who know nothing about Christianity, thinking that the "Crusaders" and Hitler were Christians, when they didn't even know how to be Christians. Mary, Saints, confession, priests, Popes, Latin services . . . none of this stuff is in the Bible! The Bible says, "The Spirit says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons . . . forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth." 1 Timothy 4:1,3
Don't be deceived anymore!

No, no, no! The Catholic Church came into being in the fourth century. The first Christians were Jews, not Catholics. If Paul and the others had seen the "Church" in the fourth century, they would have called it pagan!

I love Catholics and am not codemning them; that's not my job. It's the Church I dislike for misleading them. They will be condemned for being false leaders.

To the writer of this question. I was brought to catholic church by my parents and there are 4 in our family. Mom dad sister and I.
I...like you...soon started to see things in the Catholic church that were not biblical.

Worship of mary, calling the priest Holy Father..etc.. everything you said is correct.

So I started to tell my mom and dad and sister about this and my mom and dad thought I was being disrespectful but I told them I totally believe in Jesus but the Catholic church is going against some of the teachings.

Now what happened is my sister started to come to realize that it was true what I was saying as I pointed it out in the bible and my sister agreed. Then soon after my mom saw the light..so to speak and she saw all the things we saw. Finally my dad admitted it.

Now I certainly believe that some catholics will be in heaven but not because of the catholic church but in spite of it.

I have to admit one mistake I made was that I was angry when I realized what the catholic church was doing and that anger distanced me between my dad and mom and my sister for a while.

What I should have done...was very very patiently talk to them and not get into so much debate. Thank goodness it worked out ok but with patience and love you (The person who posted this question) will show them the truth.

Remember I was a catholic at one time and I have seen the truth now. I truly believe that it is a SPIRITUAL thing that happens when someone sees the truth...like you have.

Let you and I always remember that the catholics are folks just like you and I. Sinners that need a savior and it is our job..yours and I to help them.

Just please remember my only mistake was I got into debate mode with my parents and that actually prolonged them..coming to see reality.

Looking back I was more of the problem than the solution but all in all things will work out for the best.

I think if anybody here is a catholic remember that you are Christs first. Not the catholic church first. I am more loyal to christ than any institution or church.

Let us all be bold enough to see the truth and admit the imperfections our churchs have. After all every church is imperfect because you and I are part of it! lol

Blessings to all of you :-)

I'm Catholic, here goes...if you say that the Catholic Church is wrong because so much of their stuff is not in the Bible, then you have to throw out every other Christian group. Is "Lutheran" or "Protestant" or "Episcopal" in the Bible? Is "Communion wine" in the Bible? Also, Mary is in the Bible, several times- look in Luke's Gospel, at the beginning. As for that verse from Timothy, the Catholic church does not forbid the eating of any food that i know of. The Church has never said Hitler was a good Christian, or approved of him- and many things Crusaders did were also wrong. I don't see confusing coming from there.
Also...where have you heard the Church started in the Fourth century? Think that's wrong- it was started by Christ.

Isn't there something in there about not judging lest you be judged. Yeah i think that ones definitely in there. Stinking Protestants, the only ones I can stand are the Anglicans. I don't always agree with the church. But I was born catholic and no mater how much i question, I'll die catholic. Its not something that changes like other religions. And the veneration of Mary is half the reason I'm catholic, You don't have anyone who understands chicks up there, seriously, catholics need Mary, how else are the women going to get any attention. And saints and Mary are like intermediates, Its not like there god or anything. The bible was written by people, I can interpret anyway i darn well please. And I interpret it as a catholic!!

As far as doctrine and dogma you are right, but can you judge the persons heart? I agree with you on some of your points but when it come to the person there you have to judge the fruits.

You can be right in you statement yet be wrong in your spirit. That is a line that I would not want to cross. This is why I say that my doctrine is in the red letters. If Jesus said it then its gospel. I tell people that I am profess faith in Jesus Christ and I do not claim church or denomination. See another way of putting it is I don't play religion, religion is a game played by man to make himself equal to God.

Writing doctrine and dogma is making it so only those they want to be allowed in and making it where those they want left out can't come in. That happens in many churches and it doesn't matter what name you put on the outside of the building. Those will judged for the fruits of their actions and that is easy to see.

Pointing the finger of judgment is not our place but it is our place to be the example. The example that Jesus gave us.

Well, you have to differentiate Catholics from Catholicism. I believe that Catholics will be redeemed because of their faith in Christ alone. The Catholic church DOES teach many false & pagan things and I believe their church leaders will be "called on the carpet" before God for it.

The Church within EVERY Denomination -

The church is within every denomination throughout the entire world.

We who are in Christ Jesus have become a “new” creature (Gal.6:15, 2 Cor.5:17 below). We have BECOME the church of God (1 Cor.10:32, 1 Cor.1:2, 1 Cor.15:9, Gal.1:13 below), Jesus’ living body (Col.1:24 below).

No matter which denomination one attends, the living body of Christ is there.

Gal.6:15For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature (2 Cor.5:17 below).

2 Cor.5:17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (Gal.6:15 above): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1 Cor.10:32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

Col.1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for His body's sake, which IS the church (1 Cor.10:32 above).

1 Cor.1:2Unto the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above) which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

1 Cor.15:9For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above).

Gal.1:13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above), and wasted it:

Eph.2:16And that he might RECONCILE BOTH (Jews and Gentiles) unto God IN ONE BODY (the church of God - 1 Cor.10:32 above) by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

in the beginning of christianity people met up in each other's houses to have 'church'. nothing traditional about that, but they were Christians (Catholics firmly believe in tradition). i dont think going to church is necessary for salvation. And as far as catholics being christians, they believe Jesus is the Son of God so i wouldnt say their not christian. good Q

That's why Lutherans and other Protestants exist; they are protesting against the Catholic Church. Catholics still believe that Jesus Christ is the son of god, hence that is why they are also Christians.

Because it IS Christian. The only requirement for being Christian is believing that Christ is the son of god and believing in his teachings. That's all. My family is Catholic and I can most definately say Catholics believe in Jesus and his teachings.

Jesus founded only one church, the Catholic (universal) church to lead all men to salvaton, and Jesus still remains at the head of his church.

God is powerful enough to keep the promises he made to his church, and to keep the forces of evil at bay.

If you believe anything other than this, than you have been deceived.

Wise up before it's too late.
