( I heard something about giving them numbers that go by 18 because it means something ex. $36 or $54)

18 is a lucky number in the Jewish Tradtion. It is advised then that one should give a multiple of 18 as a gift when giving money. Otherwise, I would just get your friend what every 13 year old would like...video games, etc...

Depends how close you are with them. I'd give them like $50 or $60. If you want to be extra nice give them more but im cheap so I wouldn't.

You are right. 18 is the magic number.If you are very close you can double that to $36.
