The following are brill in this order

1. Travel Inn on 42nd street - close to Macy's and Times Square, great Soul food restaurant 100 metres away and good clubs and pubs

2. Wellington Hotel - about 54th street - barber in the building does the hair for the Law and Order TV people, great restaurants close by - Rosie O'Gradys and the Irish Bar and walking distance to Central Park and Zoo and Bloomingdales / Times Square is about 10 minute walk

3. Waldorf Astoria - just up the road from the Travel Inn about 45th street - in between Travel Inn and Wellington Hotel

It is a brill place to go, at the New York Marathon and Halloween and just before Christmas and the City is safe and open 25/8 as opposed to 24/7

Can't wait to go back for a St Patricks Day visit and Tartan week

enjoy

I agree the Metro is a really good hotel. Breakfast thrown in and 24hrs free coffee to keep you going. Go out of hotel turn left 5th Avenue, turn right Macy's and Times square. Great location and good value for money. Already booked for Dec 2007!!
