If you mean by "digital TV" one that has a fixed-pixel display such as LCD, DLP or plasma, then no matter what you feed the TV, the display is progressive scan. If the input is interlaced, the TV will convert it. However, the TVs will not accept progressive scan as input except on component or HDMI connections.

I'm sure it would come in, but anything 480p and above you need component cables for. And for 1080p you're supposed to have HDMI. S- video still splits the colors the same as component so I'm sure there wouldn't be a compatiblity problem.

I tihnk what you're trying to say is if the phat av cables are compatible to the slim psp.If that is what you are tyring to ask, they are not compatible, sucks, same thing here my av cable dosent work on my psp.

I see no reason why not!
Cables don't determine whether it is progressive scan or interleaved.
Component cables mostly affect the color purity. (RGB)
