They do know that the longer that you are in the store, the more that you will buy, so yes, taking the grand tour every other week to look for the things that you "need" you will see things and think "oh my, that looks good" and buy that as well.. very sneaky of them

They move it around because humans are creatures of habit. If everything stayed in one place you'd never explore the store. They're hoping you'll pass something you didn't come in for and buy it. Why do you think Milk is in the furthest back corner of the store? So you have to go all the way through to get it and hopefully buy something you didn't come in for. It's all marketing strategy.

Same thing with the large size box of whatever. The Family size is always at arm's level, the smaller ones either up high or down low where you won't reach. You're more apt to just grab the closest one - the super huge one.

They get you with colors and circles too. Yellow is the most eye appealing. So are circles & curves. Ever wonder why a box of Tide soap is yellow with circles?

Yes, It is a good selling point. I also own a retail business. On slower days, we move stock around. It is really surprising the customers that come in and say, "wow, got a bunch new stuff, cool" It started out as part of the job, and now me and my employees do it, just to see how many people notice. And if you went in to get something and knew right where it was, you probably wouldn't look at other stuff. But if something new is there, and you have to do a little shopping to find what you wanted, you'd also buy more. ps...........buy more, now I like that.

Stores are not there to make your life easy in as much as everything they do is geared towards marketing, and selling their goods to the consumer. Its all strategy

Sometimes I think supermarkets are organized by psychopathic maniacs who get their sick pleasure from watching people looking for things that were there yesterday.

LOL I think they want to confuse us and therefore make us spend longer time in their store and realize that we forgot something else that we need.....it is just a vicious cycle.
