I was 12 and in 6th Grade. My parents let me go because they could trust me. Tell your parents that this dance is very important to you and that you don't want to have those memories left out when you remember your childhood. Tell them the dance is chaperoned so nothing bad can happened and that you'll be on your best behavior.

I went when I was 13, 7th grade. I didn't really want to go but I got pushed into it. Still it was good to go since it was the first school dance and all. I don't go to too many now. If you want to convince your parents just tell them that it's your first school dance and you think you should go. It's sort of like prom, just one of those things you're supposed to go. Explain it to them that way. Good luck.

why not ask your father to drive you to the school dance and then pick you up after the dance - and accept the time he tells you that you have to leave the dance, if he decides to say yes. i was 13, and my parents, didn't want me to go either, but then they agreed i could if i would accept their rules and my dad would drop me off and pick me up after the dance. whatever, your family decides, accept, there will always be other dances and i'm sure your family is doing this because of fear you may not know how to handle yourself. once they realize that you are growing up and are mature enough they'll give in. enjoy your first school dance!

I was going in 6th grade to Assembly which is like dance school. There were adults there and it was safe. If there is adults present you could probably convince your parents its safe. I think you are old enough. Good luck
