England is about 10% woodland

EDIT: I know 10% seems high but if you're including all woodland that is the correct amount, I was surprised by it as well. Also in the UK almost 77% of the land is rural (inc. woodland) perhaps even more as that was just taking into account agricultural/forestry land.

10% seems WAY too high !! it can't be that much but what do i know. I gather its been increasing in the last few decades which is good. I think only about 3% of Engalnds ancient woodland remains and most of which seems to be in the home counties which is really weird! You'd think that the trees around london would be the first to go!

kielder forest is 200 sqr miles sounds large but isnt really we need more trees in the UK and the rest of the world
