It doesn't matter if they match or not...however, you should hake this into consideration. I know that you said your ring was already picked out...and that it is platinum...but have you paid for it already?? When you get pregnant, your fingers will get a little more plump, thus making it impossible for you to wear your rings. Platinum can not be resized...period, but white gold can be. So, if you want to at least be able to wear your wedding band, think about white gold.

The rings should only match if it matters to you. The rings are a symbol of your love. If the both of you feel that its important to have matching rings then get matching rings, otherwise don't stress over the rings matching there will be other obstacles ahead of you in your marriage that you should worry about. Good luck and Congratulations!

Titanium is the only way to go. I have white gold and my husband has titanium and they look like they are a matching set. The greatest thing about titanium is that it weighs less than a dime! it's nearly weightless, men like them because since most men find rings foreign at first, they can barely tell it is there. Titanium WILL scratch, however, the prices are unbeatable and if down the road you are willing to exchange his rings because of wear (knowing that the ring is a symbol, NOT the tie that binds, just as if you were to upgrade your diamond) you won't be spending a fortune. Everyone is happy! :)
Oh...AND the titanium IS engraveable if you wanted that.

Wedding Bands are an outward way of showing the world that you are married. It does not really matter if you both have the same style or the same type of metal. Yes it is common that couples want thier bands to match but it is not something that you must do. My husband has the same color ring as me but we do not match. Mine is all diamonds and I would not expect him to wear that. AS long as you both are happy that is all that matters.
Good Luck!!

I say get what make the two of you happy. I might suggest getting white gold for his ring so they look similar but nobody really looks to see if the rings are from the same set or not.
Enjoy your wedding. Good Luck. :)

I dont think it matters as long as he leaves the ring on when you arent around!
I personally would prefer that they match in terms of design rather than colour. Maybe try white gold!

it does not matter if the rings match or not, it is the sentiment and meaning of them that is important, it would make no difference at all even if they were made from a ring pull from a can of drink.
the only match that DOES MATTER is you and your husband to be.
congratulations and good luck on your day, i wish you both a very long and happy life together.

It doesn't matter, in fact I would suggest since he is a man he not get platnium... the metal stratches easily and men are usually hardered on their hands than women. I would suggest he get a white gold band so they still look simiar. But there is no set rule for how the men and women's bands should look.... if you really want them to match with out matching the metal have his band look exactly like your band..... but then of course you ahve your engagment ring that will make your's look more femine and his more masculine.

if you look at a white gold ring against a platinum one you can see the difererence. a platinum ring does not cost that much. we got ours for £1,000 for the pair and they were from 'Tiffanys'!
i would go for the same metal, not necessarily the same design.
