Why does it coast more to hire and fly?

a chopper than it does to hire and fly fixed wing air craft.

Because more fuel is burned creating an cushion to hover the chopper on that it does to use the atmosphere to fly a plane.

Helicopters are extremely heavy on fuel and maint, for more so than a fixed wing aircraft.
As an example a Mil Mi-26 helicopter measures fuel burn in leters per second.
